Van Wolfswinkel (knee) took a knock in the game against Tottenham and was just not ready for the match at Villa Park, confirms manager Chris Hughton.

Van Wolfswinkel has only managed one goal this season for the Canaries. He seems a world away from the player who scored 28 goals in two seasons at Sporting Lisbon; form which persuaded Norwich to fork over 10 million for his signature last summer.

Canaries manager Chris Hughton confirmed that he hopes van Wolfsinkel will be available for selection when Norwich host Swansea in Gameweek 18.

With injuries curtailing a number of his attacking options at the moment, manager Chris Hughton will look to Gary Hooper and Johan Elmander to find the back of the net. Depending on how they do over the next couple of Gameweeks will show if van Wolfswinkel needs to be put straight back into the team.

Van Wolfswinkel (toe) will not feature in Norwich City's Premier League match against Newcastle on Saturday, the Norwich Evening News reports. Manager Chris Hughton said "it is certainly not a serious injury but it is taking a little while to heal and he will miss out this weekend. We just have to make sure we give him the rest he needs. It's still a toe problem that is causing him some difficulty but it is not a bad injury by any stretch....I want him 100 percent and he will be. We know we will have to probably rest him for a maximum of two weeks, certainly no more than that."

Van Wolfswinkel has already missed the last three Premier League matches for Norwich and it's a little disheartening to hear that he could miss Saturday's match and the next weekend's match against Crystal Palace. Nevertheless, at least we know he'll be at full fitness when he does finally return.

Van Wolfswinkel (toe) is in line to make a return for the Canaries at the weekend against West Ham, the Eastern Daily Press reports.

Van Wolfswinkel is nearing a badly needed return for Norwich. Chris Hughton's team have struggled all season for goals and will look to their tall Dutch striker to start banging a few in and help them move out of the relegation zone.

Van Wolfswinkel was left out of this weekend's match day squad against Arsenal, as he is still not fully recovered from his toe injury.

Manager Chris Hughton is hopeful van Wolfswinkel will be able to return for the Canaries next league game. Norwich only average 0.75 goals per game at the moment and haven't scored more than once in 90 minutes since the opening day. They will be looking to their record signing to start finding the net in the next couple of game weeks.

Van Wolfswinkel has been ruled out of Norwich City's midweek cup-tie with Watford due to a toe injury which he picked up against Aston Villa at the weekend, the Eastern Daily Press, reports.

Norwich manager Chris Hughton expects van Wolfswinkel to only be out of action for a couple of days, and is confident he will be available for selection for the Canaries' trip to Stoke City next weekend. Norwich have been particularly goal-shy in the league of late, and will hope their record signing can add to his solitary opening day goal, sooner, rather than later.

Van Wolfswinkel scored his first Premier League goal Saturday during Norwich City's 2-2 draw against Everton. He put home a wonderful header in the game's 71st minute.

Van Wolfswinkel was known for his scoring before coming over from Sporting Lisbon this season. With Gary Hooper missing the match because of injury, van Wolfswinkel was the focal point of the offense up front. As long as Hooper continues to miss time, van Wolfswinkel should see more opportunities.

Van Wolfswinkel netted his first goal as a Canary during the team's 1-1 draw in a preseason friendly against Real Sociedad on Tuesday. He started the match for Norwich City and was subbed for in the 80th minute by Gary Hooper.

It it still to be determined how Norwich City will use both van Wolfswinkel and Hooper. While van Wolfswinkel started this match, Hooper started the previous friendly against Braga. The Canaries have one more friendly, against Panathinaikos, before they begin the Premier League season.
