Liverpool have agreed to pay QPR an 8 million fee for Remy's transfer, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Remy, who scored 14 goals in 26 appearances while on loan at Newcastle last season, could be a force up front for Liverpool alongside Daniel Sturridge. There were a few striker options that the Reds were looking at to replace the lost production by Luis Saurez, and Remy was probably the best available at less than 10 million.

Remy returned from a calf issue to come on as a first-half injury replacement Saturday against Swansea. He entered the match in the 40th minute for Luuk de Jong, who left with an ankle injury, and took two shots, although neither landed on goal.

Remy missed more than a month with his calf injury, but his return is a huge boost for a Newcastle side that is absolutely desperate for goals. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to find the back of the net Saturday, and it will likely be tougher next week against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Remy is expected to return from his calf injury to play in Saturday's match against Swansea City, the club's official web site reports.

Remy has not featured for Newcastle since March 1 against Hull City, although he was able to make an appearance for France against the Netherlands four days later. He has not played since then, but his return would be a huge boost to a Newcastle side absolutely desperate for goals. Remy has found the back of the net 13 times this season, which is six more than second-place Yohan Cabaye, who left the club for Paris Saint-Germain in January.
