Pogrebnyak opened things up in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Swansea City.

Still a head-scratcher why Fulham let Pogrebnyak leave after a stellar second half of last season. Reading are happy to have him though with four goals across all competitions.

Reading overturned a 2-1 deficit Wednesday, with Pogrebnyak scoring a back-heel flick nine minutes from the end of regular time.

The Royals have just one solitary point from four Premier League matches, sitting at the bottom of the table, but the Russian striker has three goals in all competitions, including two in the League Cup. Pogrebnyak will be asked to carry much of the scoring load, making him a low cost striker option for owners looking to pair him with a big money forward.

Pogrebnyak netted the opening goal for Reading in the 2nd round of the Capital One Cup.

Formerly the Carling Cup, Reading boss Brian McDermott named the same side he chose at Chelsea, which proves he's taking it very seriously. Although Reading ultimately needed an own goal to send Championship side Peterborough home, the Russian striker has proven he's on form, starting the campaign with two goals in three matches.

Pogrebnyak headed home his first of the season, giving Reading a lead that they eventually surrendered at Stamford Bridge in a 4-2 loss Wednesday night.

It is a very unfair scoreline to Reading, who at times carried the action. Pogrebnyak is truly one of the better values at striker in fantasy Premier League.

Pogrebnyak is close to signing with newly promoted Reading on a free transfer after coming to the Premier League with Fulham by means of the 2012 January transfer window, Sky Sports reports.

Nothing is official, and one would assume that Fulham are going to try and keep their Russian striker, but it does seem that the Royals are closer than anyone to getting Pogrebnyak's signature.

Pogrebnyak tied the game Saturday at 58 minutes for Fulham and thought he had another until the referee waved the game on claiming the ball was not all the way over the line.

Fulham did end up winning the game, so all should be forgiven, but another goal would just have bolstered the Russian's impressive goal tally since joining the Cottagers.
