ANALYSIS
Rodriguez has made one start this season -- on May 8 -- and he struck out six while holding the Marlins to two runs over six innings. The 24-year-old right-hander has spent most of the season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he's posted a 3-7 record and a 6.67 ERA in 23 appearances (13 starts). He's now been bumped from the 40-man roster.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2012
2009
After a solid 2010 season spent largely at Triple-A Durham, Rodriguez played his first major league season to mixed results. As an extreme flyball pitcher, he is naturally susceptible to the long ball. In fact, his 1.37 HR/9IP was the worst of anyone with at least 70 innings and fewer than 10 starts. Compounding matters, he simply has to do a better job with runners on base -- far too many are coming around to score. While there is a chance Rodriguez finds his way into the back of the rotation, he will probably wind up as a long man, splitting time between the bullpen and rotation.
A performance prospect who has made steady progress through the system at a young age, Rodriguez does not have overpowering stuff, so despite his age and a low ERA at Modesto, he barely registers on prospect lists. He's a spot starter/long man in the majors, and two years from even that.
