Logan Verrett

Acquired by the Mets as a waiver pick up in 2015, Verrett ultimately played a fairly large role for the club last season. He cracked the Opening Day roster in a bullpen capacity, but the 26-year-old ended up needing to make 12 spot starts throughout the season as the rotation dealt with a wave of injuries. Though Verrett provided valuable innings, he was hammered during his time as a starter, posting a 6.45 ERA and allowing 32 walks and a .916 OPS against in 60 innings. He was far more effective out of the bullpen, but even then, the righty struggled with command and keeping the ball in the yard. Statistically, he regressed in almost every meaningful category from his debut in 2015, but there could be some reason for optimism after wrapping up the season with a successful final month. Given his struggles as a starter, Verrett will likely be looked at strictly as a reliever in 2017, even after he was claimed off waivers by the Orioles during the offseason.
