Lee agreed Monday to a four-year, $12.9 million contract with the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Organization, Jeeho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports.
ANALYSIS
Lee's major league career was very short lived. In his lone season with the Mariners, the first baseman/designated hitter batted .253 with 14 homers and 49 RBI over 317 plate appearances. Given that Lee is 34 years old, a future return to the MLB seems unlikely.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
Lee started his MLB career as an occasional bottom-side platoon player at first base and designated hitter, but he soon pushed for more frequent playing time with his power, at the expense of Adam Lind. Big league pitchers seemed to figure him out over the course of the season, as he only hit two home runs and batted .200 after the All-Star break. The 34-year-old's hacking profile does not befit someone who'll improve his average anytime soon, and his burly physique (6-foot-4, 280 pounds) should generate more power than the .428 slugging percentage he posted with Seattle. However, a return to any prominent role in the US was quelled following his four-year commitment to play in Korea, likely putting an end to his American playing career after posting just a .740 OPS.
Lee is moving to MLB after a four-year stint playing in Japan, which followed a prolific career in South Korea. He breaks the mold of the typical Asian player we're used to seeing in MLB: he's a heavyweight slugger who stands 6-foot-4 and tips the scale at over 280 pounds. While he never matched the outlandish South Korean numbers during his time in Japan, Lee was consistently one of his league's best hitters as evidenced by his career .293/.370/.486 line. Lee covers the whole plate, is capable of hitting the ball out to all fields, and will take a walk. He may have to win a job upon signing with a MLB club, but his right-handed pop should give him a shot at a regular role.
