Koronka started the season as Texas' fifth starter, compiling a 3.65 ERA and a 4-1 record through his first seven starts, which had the local media in a frenzy. Then his failure to miss bats caught up with him, and he finished 7-7 with a 5.69 ERA and a poor 61:47 K:BB rate in 125 innings. He's not a major-league starter.
Our writeup from last season needs virtually no modification: "Koronka doesn't throw hard, and while he has decent control, no one is going to mistake him for David Wells. The best thing he has going for him is being left-handed, which could land him a middle-relief job at some point." He did a better job of keeping the ball in the park in 2005, if you want to dig for something.

This 6'1", 180-pound, southpaw is your typical crafty lefty who caught a wave of run support earlier this season at High-A Stockton and rode it to an 11-0 record. What that record does not show was the so-so command he showed there - a no-no when you lack overpowering stuff. Koronka's older than fellow Reds' promotees Josh Hall and Dustin Moseley, and his upside is much lower. His southpaw status gives him a shot, but his long-term upside is as a fifth starter at best.
