After being designated for assignment last Sunday, Worth cleared waivers and has been assigned to Triple-A Fresno, Angel Verdejo Jr. of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Back in Triple-A, he owns a .340/.449/.550 line with eight home runs and 36 RBI in 191 at-bats. Worth will have a hard time finding playing time with Houston again this season, as the Astros called up top prospect Alex Bregman just over a week ago.

In Some Depth: Up the Middle

Worth once again provided the Tigers with infield depth last season, appearing in 43 games while manning second base, shortstop and third base. The 27-year-old utility infielder remained solid with his glove, but his bat (.216/.330/.257) continues to limit his playing time. If Worth is able to start producing slightly better at the plate, he could steal someone playing time from fellow backup infielder Ramon Santiago, but even with a boost in at-bats, Worth’s fantasy upside will be limited.
Worth is a utility infielder who has seen limited action with the Tigers each of the past two seasons. He has hit .259 with two homers and 11 RBI in 143 career at-bats. Never known for his bat, Worth’s primary value to the Tigers is with the leather. He’s capable of playing second base, third base or shortstop. Given the Tigers' lack of quality options at second and third base, Worth could see an expanded role this year, but his lack of productivity with the lumber will keep him off most fantasy radars.
Worth, 25, received a prolonged look with Detroit mid-season after a rash of injuries hit the squad. He hit .255 with two home runs and eight RBI in 106 at-bats while seeing action at second base, third base and shortstop. The Tigers have those three spots filled by other options heading into spring training, but Worth could earn a roster spot as a utility infielder. He has a solid enough glove to earn a living at the major league level, but Worth's light-hitting ways will limit his fantasy value.
