RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler finished with 17 points (7-19 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven assists, two rebounds and two steals across 34 minutes during Wednesday's 80-69 loss to the Lynx.

With fellow guards Tiffany Mitchell (knee) and Briann January (knee) sidelined for the remainder of the season, Wheeler has been given extended run over the past two contests, seeing 37 and 34 minutes respectively. In those two games, she's totaled an impressive 40 points, 10 assists, four steals, three rebounds and just three turnovers. She'll likely continue being the main beneficiary of her teammates' misfortune, making her worthy of DFS consideration seemingly every night the Fever roll the ball out.

Erica Wheeler: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

August 27, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler posted a team-high 23 points, one rebound, three assists and two steals across 37 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Dream.

It was the most minutes she's played since early June and Wheeler took full advantage, posting her highest point total since that same game. Wheeler has, however, scored 10 or less points in five of her last eight games, so she hasn't exactly been the most consistent scorer as of late. The guard still does boast enough upside to be worth a potential value play in DFS.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler supplied 10 points (4-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five assists, three rebounds and three steals across 26 minutes during Wednesday's 71-50 blowout loss to the Liberty.

While the Fever managed to just score 50 points, Wheeler had a relatively typical game. On the year, she averages 11.2 points, 3.9 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Her workload of 25.6 minutes isn't ideal, but she's flashed enough upside to warrant a flier in DFS.

August 15, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler finished with eight points (3-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt), eight assists, three rebounds and two steals across 25 minutes during Saturday's 100-80 loss to the Mystics.

Though she couldn't keep up her impressive scoring from her previous game, where she dropped a career-high 33 points, Wheeler still managed to dish eight assists Saturday. A drop-off after her career game isn't unexpected, as she's struggled with consistency all season. Overall, however, she's a decent low-to-mid-tier DFS option considering her good passing and defense. She's currently posting 11.4 points, 4.0 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals across 25.9 minutes per game.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler tallied a career-high 33 points (12-18 FG, 7-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, two steals and one assist across 33 minutes during Tuesday's 81-76 loss to the Liberty.

After shooting a combined 6-for-22 from the field and 2-of-9 from behind the arc over the previous two games, Wheeler progressed to the mean in a big way Tuesday, dropping a career-high 33 points while raining seven threes on the defense. She didn't slack on defense, either, recording at least two steals for the third straight outing. She's normally not a premier scorer, averaging 11.5 points across 26.0 minutes per game on 41.5 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from deep, but demonstrated her potential as one Tuesday. Wheeler is far from a top-tier fantasy option, but Tuesday's effort demonstrates the kind of upside she has in DFS as a relatively low-cost option.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler posted nine points (4-13 FG, 1-6 3Pt), seven assists, three steals and one rebound across 28 minutes during Sunday's 84-82 victory over the Lynx.

Wheeler has been passing well as of late, averaging 6.6 dimes over the past five contests. She's also swiped five steals over the past two games. A solid stretch of games aside, Wheeler is still somewhat of a low-tier fantasy option, though not bad for the price. Her above average skill as a passer and defender give her some big-game upside.

July 31, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler posted 13 points, one rebound and four assists across 24 minutes in Sunday's loss to the Sun.

Wheeler had been going through a rough stretch prior to Sunday's contest, as she had combined to go 8-of-28 from the field, including 2-of-14 from three-point range, over her last three contests. Wheeler has done a good job of racking up assists despite the scoring difficulties, so if she can garner some consistency in both categories, she could end up being a solid low-cost DFS option.

July 26, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler accumulated seven points (3-11 FG, 1-6 3Pt), a season-high nine assists, three rebounds and two steals across 32 minutes during Tuesday's 84-82 loss to the Wings.

Though Wheeler isn't an elite distributor, she dished an impressive nine dimes during Tuesday's game. She's also seen an increased role over the past three games, averaging 31.3 minutes per game compared to her season average of 25.7 minutes per contest. Wheeler's workload is definitely something to keep an eye on, but unless she starts gaining some consistency in her production, she will probably remain a mid-tier fantasy option.

July 21, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler, at the All-Star break, is posting 11.3 points, 3.3 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals across 25.5 minutes per game.

Though Wheeler -- in her third season -- is posting career highs nearly across the board, she is still struggling to shoot the ball efficiently, limiting her overall scoring. She also provides little value by way of supplementary statistics. While her per-40-minutes numbers are impressive at 17.8 points, 5.2 assists, 3.5 boards and 1.9 steals per game, she simply can't garner starter's minutes at this point. That said, she's still a decent DFS option and can be considered on most nights as a solid roster filler.

July 19, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler finished with 20 points (6-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 7-8 FT), seven assists, three rebounds and one steal across 35 minutes during Wednesday's 84-77 victory over the Mercury.

Wheeler dazzled in her 12th start of the season with Shenise Johnson (knee) still sidelined, coming up just four points shy of her season high in scoring and matching her season-high seven assists. It remains to be seen what her role will be when Johnson returns from her injury, however, which she likely will after the All-Star break. Though she's averaging just 11.1 points, 3.3 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals across 24.9 minutes per game, her fantasy stock is certainly on the rise after a solid string of performances over the past 10 games or so.

July 18, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler tallied 11 points (4-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists, one steal and two turnovers across 22 minutes during Monday's 62-80 loss to the Sparks.

Wheeler made her 11th start of the season with Shenise Johnson (knee) still out and was able to record a bounce-back effort after shooting a combined 7-of-27 from the field in the two games prior to Monday. Her 50 percent showing from the field and 60 percent mark from long distance allowed her to score 11 points, but she didn't do much elsewhere in the box score, which limited her overall fantasy impact. Wheeler's averages of 11.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals aren't overly impressive, but she does have the occasional outburst, giving some upside in DFS contests.

July 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler managed nine points (4-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt), four assists, two rebounds and two steals across 28 minutes during Wednesday's 79-72 loss to the Stars.

Wheeler, in her struggles Wednesday, had her first single-digit scoring outing since clocked six points June 18 against the Sky, when she shot 2-of-9 from the field and 0-of-3 from deep. While her scoring was subpar, she still managed to get her teammates involved and swipe a couple steals. Overall, she remains a somewhat fringe DFS option due to her unsatisfactory workload of 25.1 minutes per game. With that in mind, she's shown in the past that she has big game potential, so there are much worse options out there.

July 2, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler finished Saturday's 91-85 loss to the Sun with 16 points (5-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), one rebound, five assists, two steals and two turnovers across 28 minutes.

Wheeler didn't have the best day shooting the ball, but she still was able to tally 16 points, which marked her third straight game in double figures. Her fantasy value would likely increase if she could be more consistent with her numbers elsewhere in the box score, so for now, Wheeler will need to continue to score at a high rate in order to make her a worthy fantasy candidate. Wheeler is averaging 11.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals across 24.9 minutes per contest.

June 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler finished with 13 points (5-12 FG, 3-6 3PT), three rebounds, three assists, and one steal across 25 minutes in Wednesday's victory over the Sky.

Wheeler has seen an increase in minutes since fellow guard Briann January (ankle) had been sidelined earlier in the season. With the opportunity to have more court time, Wheeler in on pace to have the most productive season of her 2017 campaign, averaging 11.0 points, 2.2 rbounds, 3.2 assists, and one steal across 24.7 minutes of playing time.

June 16, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler managed 20 points (9-16 FG, 2-4 3Pt), seven assists, three rebounds, one steal and one block across 34 minutes during Thursday's 85-74 victory over the Dream.

With fellow guard Briann January (ankle) still sidelined, Wheeler continues to have productive outings. Over the past three contests, she's provided at least 15 points and six assists. As long as January remains off the floor, Wheeler can certainly be deployed in DFS with success.

June 12, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler posted a team-high 15 points (7-15 FG, 1-2 FT) and six assists to go along with three rebounds in 30 minutes during Sunday's loss to Washington.

Despite only starting in two games this season, Wheeler is on track to have the most productive campaign of her career thus far, averaging 10.3 points, 2.3 assists, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 23.6 minutes per contest.

June 10, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler tallied 19 points (7-12 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six assists, five rebounds and two steals across 35 minutes during Friday's 83-80 victory over the Storm.

Wheeler has been taking advantage of Briann January (ankle) going down with an injury, totaling 43 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and four steals over the past two games. This explosion has essentially come out of nowhere, as Wheeler has posted career averages of 7.3 points, 2.3 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 0.7 steals across 19.8 minutes per game in her three WNBA seasons. It's unclear what her role will be once January returns from her injury, but Wheeler is making her case for a bump in playing time. She should be considered as a serious DFS option as long as January remains sidelined.

June 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler recorded 24 points (7-16 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 9-10 FT), three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 42 minutes in Wednesday's loss to the Mercury.

Wednesday's performance from Wheeler came out of nowhere, as the guard had scored a combined nine points over her last two contests and had hit double figures just once through eight games this season. Her opportunity Wednesday came when Indiana's Briann January was forced to leave the game with an ankle injury after playing just a little over a minute, so Wheeler could see a bump in minutes moving forward should January's injury be serious. While Wheeler is still averaging just 8.6 points per game this season, an increase in playing time could make her an intriguing DFS option moving forward.

May 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler posted 14 points (6-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and two turnovers across 15 minutes during Wednesday's 90-93 win over the Sparks.

Wheeler's 14-point showing Wednesday was a new-season high for the 5-foot-7 guard, playing a key role off the bench in helping the Fever come back from a 14-point halftime deficit. However, the fact that she hasn't scored more than six points previously this season and averages just 16.1 minutes per game leaves plenty to be desired statistically. She can be considered a punt play in DFS contests, but her volatile production makes her a risky play on any given night.

May 17, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler posted two points (1-3 FG, 0-2 3Pt), one rebound, two assists, one steal and two turnovers across 18 minutes during Sunday's 82-87 loss to the Storm.

Wheeler struggled to get anything going, but her 18-minute workload suggests she's expected to be a key figure off the bench for the Fever. In 34 games with the Fever during the 2016 campaign, Wheeler averaged 8.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists across 23.9 minutes, so it wouldn't be surprising if she trended more towards those numbers moving forward, especially considering the Storm are one of the toughest teams in the league to play.

May 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Wheeler posted 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and two assists in 23 minutes throughout Tuesday's exhibition matchup against the Mystics.

Wheeler led the Fever on Tuesday with 12 points, although falling short to the Mystics 87-67. During Wheeler's 2016 campaign, the guard out of Rutgers averaged 8.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game throughout 23.9 minutes.
