RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell finished with 15 points (5-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds and two assists during Thursday's 86-72 loss to the Sparks.

While she's racked up nine turnovers over the past two games, Mitchell has ultimately stepped up her performances in the postseason. She's averaging 15.8 points, 3.5 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game during the playoffs compared to 8.0 points, 3.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 0.9 steals per contest during the regular season. The Sparks have been dampening her fantasy value by forcing her to commit costly turnovers, though she still has flashed more than enough upside to warrant a slot in a DFS lineup.

Leilani Mitchell: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

September 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell finished with 19 points (5-10 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four assists, three rebounds and one steal across 31 minutes during Tuesday's 79-66 loss to the Sparks.

Mitchell has been a revelation for the Mercury in the playoffs, posting 16.0 points, 4.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals across 32.1 minutes per game. During the regular season, she averaged just 8.0 points, 3.6 assists and 2.4 boards across 21.3 minutes per game. She also shot an atrocious 17.6 percent against the Sparks over the teams' three regular season matchups, making Tuesday's effort all the more impressive.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell finished Sunday's 88-83 win over the Sun in the second round of the playoffs with 12 points (3-8 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five assists, two steals and two turnovers across 34 minutes.

While Mitchell continues to play in a complementary role to superstars Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner, she's still been extremely effective and has put together two solid performances thus far in the playoffs. Over two games, Mitchell has averaged 14.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals, giving her plenty of upside as a DFS option. While she'll continue to be a third option at best on the offensive side of the ball, Mitchell's strong play is still encouraging heading into a best of five semifinal matchup with the Sparks that starts on Tuesday.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell finished with 18 points (4-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 8-9 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one block across 30 minutes during Sunday's 84-70 win over the Dream.

Mitchell drew her seventh start of the year Sunday and responded by coming up just one point shy of her season high. She normally plays a sixth-man role off the pine for the team, but has certainly demonstrated big-game upside when given extended run. While she didn't manage to post any new season highs during 2017, it was another solid campaign for the nine-year veteran out of Utah. She'll look to carry the momentum of Sunday's performance into the postseason.

August 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell finished with 17 points (5-7 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), a season-high eight assists, three rebounds and one steal across 24 minutes during Friday's 93-92 loss to the Sun.

Friday's game was arguably Mitchell's best game of the season. Not only was she on fire from beyond the arc, bolstering her 36.3 three-point percentage this season, she showed off her great passing ability, dropping a season-high eight assists. Ultimately, all the upside Mitchell has shown this season came to fruition Friday. Her season averages of 8.5 points, 3.8 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 steal across 21.7 minutes per game make her a solid low-cost fantasy option with big-game potential.

July 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell managed zero points (0-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt), five assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block across 17 minutes during Friday's 86-80 victory over the Sky.

Though she normally comes off the pine, Mitchell drew her fourth start of the season. She didn't perform well in the scoring department, but provided value in different ways, filling every other part of the box score. Despite having a ballhandling role, generally off the bench, with the team, Mitchell's inconsistent workload ultimately limits her fantasy upside.

July 26, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell contributed 11 points (4-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists and three rebounds across 23 minutes during Tuesday's 99-91 loss to the Dream.

Though Mitchell provided a solid 11 points and five assists off the pine, she also committed four turnovers, limiting her fantasy impact. Her role as a ballhandler off the bench for the Mercury ensures that she has plenty of opportunities to rack up a solid box score. But, Mitchell can often suffer from inconsistency and plays just 22.2 minutes per game, making her a fairly risky DFS option.

July 22, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell -- at the All-Star break -- is posting 8.8 points, 3.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals across 22.1 minutes per game.

Mitchell, who takes care of a lot of ball-handling duties for the Mercury off the bench, is demonstrating her passing ability in limited minutes. Her 6.5 assists per 40 minutes is good for ninth in the WNBA. While she doesn't produce eye-popping numbers, Mitchell's ability to rack up assists while scoring, rebounding and stealing at a decent clip makes her a solid low-cost DFS option.

July 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell finished with 13 points (3-9 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 6-6 FT), five assists, three rebounds, two blocks and one steal across 25 minutes during Wednesday's 89-84 win over the Fever.

Though she was cold from beyond the arc Wednesday, Mitchell still managed to drop a solid 13 points in 25 minutes off the bench by getting to the free throw line and taking advantage of those chances. She's also continuing to pass the ball well, with her five assists bumping up her 3.8 assist-per-game average. On the defensive side of the ball, Mitchell recorded two blocks for the first time all season to go along with her one steal, which we're used to seeing from her considering her average (1.2). Overall, it was an above average performance from Mitchell. That said, she still remains somewhat of a fringe DFS option due to her subpar workload of 22.7 minutes per game.

July 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell finished with 15 points (4-6 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five assists, three rebounds and a steal across 23 minutes during Friday's 92-77 victory over the Stars.

Friday marked Mitchell's first double-digit scoring effort since she dropped 10 points against the Sky on June 16. Her scoring has trailed off significantly since the beginning of the season, stalling her fantasy value significantly. She currently stands at 9.7 points, 3.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals across 23.0 minutes per game.

June 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell recorded four points (1-4 FG, 2-3 FT), three assists and one steal across 21 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Sparks.

Mitchell was unable to get involved in the Mercury's offensive attack Sunday, and as a result, her streak of seven straight games with at least 10 points came to an end. Still, this performance should be seen as a minor blip on what has been a quality start to the regular season for the eight-year veteran, as she is averaging career highs in both points (11.7) and assists (4.1) per game.

June 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell tallied 14 points (4-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven assists, two steals and one block across 30 minutes during Wednesday's 98-90 victory over the Fever.

Mitchell is continuing to have arguably the best season of her career so far, on pace to set career highs in points, assists, blocks and field-goal percentage. She's seeing 25.0 minutes per game, playing all but one contest off the bench, and has been responding excellently. Also, Mitchell has scored in single-digits just once through the first eight games of the year. She's one of the more consistent DFS options available.

June 2, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell recorded 14 points (4-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four assists and three rounds across 24 minutes in Thursday's win over the Sky.

It was yet another solid performance off the bench for Mitchell, who, despite having her minutes fluctuate through the first six games of the season, has remained a consistent contributor as a reserve for the Mercury. She's now recorded double-digit points in five straight games and at least four assists in three straight, and while she will likely continue to come off the bench, Mitchell should continue to provide great value at an affordable price.

May 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell tallied a team-high 19 points (6-8 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT) during Saturday's 107-65 blowout victory over the Wings, while adding three rebounds, four assists, three steals and a turnover across 17 minutes.

Mitchell has been far and away the Mercury's best bench player so far this season and is currently averaging career highs in points (12.6), rebounds (2.6) and assists (4.0). While it's hard to expect her to keep up with her current blistering pace, Mitchell is taking it upon herself to provide the team with a scoring punch off the bench and will be an intriguing fantasy option until she proves otherwise. She only received 17 minutes Saturday, but should see that increase closer to her 23.8 per game average with a more competitive game expected on Thursday against the Sky.

May 24, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell finished with 11 points (2-13 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT), five assists, four rebounds, four steals and one block across 33 minutes during Tuesday's 69-67 loss to the Liberty.

Though she shot an atrocious 2-of-13, Mitchell recorded a four steals and a block, helping the team on the defensive end. While she stands at just 5-foot-5, she's recorded a block in three of the Mercury's first four games this season in addition to collecting six total steals. Mitchell is currently averaging 11.0 points and 4.0 assists per game, both of which be career highs if she keeps it up all year.

May 18, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell finished with 11 points (4-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, seven assists and two turnovers across 28 minutes during Wednesday's 62-85 victory over the Fever.

Mitchell's 28-minute workload suggests she's going to be relied upon as one of the team's top options off the bench, which should afford her some opportunities to put up solid numbers. Wednesday's performance was a good example of just that, as she was able to hit double figures offensively, while leading the team with an impressive seven assists. Mitchell likely won't see playing time in the upper-20's consistently, but she still appears to be locked into a solid rotation role, offering some intrigue as a potential punt play in DFS contests.

May 9, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Mitchell finished with six points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five assists and two rebounds across 16 minutes during Sunday's 72-55 victory over the Storm.

Mitchell, who's entering her ninth season, got her teammates involved in limited minutes during Sunday's victory. She isn't primarily known for her playmaking ability, but rather her marksmanship. The 5-5 guard is one of the best shooters in the league, boasting a career 39.9 three-point percentage and eclipsing 40 percent during three different seasons. During her last full season (2015), she averaged 6.7 points, 2.7 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 23.0 minutes per contest.
