RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner finished with 16 points (7-14 FG, 2-5 FT), five rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal across 37 minutes during Thursday's 86-72 loss to the Sparks.

Griner has struggled during the first two games of the semifinals against the Sparks. We'll see if she can step things up during an elimination Game 3 at home.

September 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner finished with 18 points (6-12 FG, 6-8 FT), two rebounds, two assists and five turnovers across 29 minutes during Tuesday's 79-66 loss to the Sparks.

Griner had her worst playoff showing of 2017 Tuesday. While she pulled her weight as a scorer, she lacked tenacity on the glass, failed to record a defensive statistic and couldn't hang onto the rock. None of that is particularly surprising, however, as Griner hasn't fared well against Los Angeles all year. Over the teams' three matchups in the regular season, she posted just 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 steal across 28.7 minutes per game. Griner also averaged 4.3 turnovers per contest against the Sparks. History certainly isn't in her favor heading into Game 2, making her someone to think twice about deploying in DFS.

September 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner recorded 26 points (7-16 FG, 12-14 FT), nine rebounds, one block and three turnovers across 38 minutes during Sunday's 88-83 win over the Sun in the second round of the playoffs.

The Mercury were down big early on, but Griner and fellow veteran Diana Taurasi led the team to a comeback win. Griner has put up back-to-back monster outings and is now averaging 24.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.0 blocks across 39.0 minutes during the playoffs. She'll continue to be on double-double watch moving forward and should be a go-to option once again for a best of five semfinals matchup that starts against the Sparks on Tuesday.

September 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner finished with 30 points (10-17 FG, 10-12 FT), six rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block across 37 minutes during Sunday's 84-70 win over the Dream.

Griner has been dominant over the Mercury's last three regular season affairs, averaging 30.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.0 steal across 35.7 minutes per contest. She's also made over 50.0 percent of her field-goals in each game over that stretch. Overall, on the year, while Griner's rebounds and blocks have regressed from prior years, she's emerged as more of a scoring threat. During 2017, she posted a career-high 21.9 points per game on 57.7 percent shooting, including an impressive 81.2 percent from the charity stripe. She's heading into the postseason with plenty of momentum.

August 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner finished with 29 points (12-20 FG, 5-8 FT), eight rebounds, five blocks and one assist across 37 minutes during Sunday's 75-71 win over the Storm.

Griner's performance Sunday was certainly her best effort since returning from her injury five games prior. It's a testament to Griner's dominant season that neither her 29 points nor her five blocks were season highs. On the year, she's posting 21.2 points, 7.7 boards, 2.6 blocks and 1.8 assists per game -- making her worthy of fantasy consideration seemingly every night.

August 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner finished with 18 points (8-14 FG, 2-5 FT), four rebounds, four blocks, two assists and two steals across 31 minutes during Thursday's 82-67 loss to the Sparks.

Griner has struggled on the glass over the past three games, grabbing just 12 total rebounds. She's been as dominant as usual on defense, however, collecting a combined 11 steals and blocks over that stretch. It's hard to imagine she'll continue slumping on the glass for long, so it's still probably relatively safe to deploy her in DFS. On the season, Griner is averaging 20.8 points, 7.7 boards, 2.5 blocks and 1.8 assists across 31.0 minutes per appearance.

August 23, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner finished with nine points (3-5 FG, 3-4 FT), four blocks and two rebounds across 24 minutes during Tuesday's 105-69 blowout loss to the Lynx.

Though she was on track to see her usual workload of 31 minutes per game, Griner ended up seeing just 24 minutes due to a blowout loss. She also failed to produce well, as the Lynx were locked in on both sides of the ball. That said, Tuesday's game is certainly an outlier for her and the Mercury and Griner should be expected to return to form next time out.

August 19, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner recorded 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block across 34 minutes during Friday's 89-79 victory over the Mystics.

It hasn't taken long for Griner to find her stride since returning from her injury. Over her first two games back, she's totaled 32 points, 17 rebounds, four blocks, three assists and two steals across 55 minutes. It seems safe to say there should be no concerns about her health when considering deploying her in DFS.

August 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner posted 19 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and three blocks across 21 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Storm.

It was Griner's first game since missing eight contests with a bone bruise in her left knee and a right ankle sprain, and while she was limited to just 21 minutes, she was still very productive on both ends of the floor. With her minutes only going to increase from here on out, look for Griner to once again be an elite DFS option in the frontcourt for as long as she is healthy.

August 10, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner (ankle, knee) will make her return during Saturday's tilt against the Storm, Brendon Kleen of SummittHoops.com reports.

Griner, who's missed the past eight contests after suffering a left knee bone bruise and right ankle sprain in mid-July, will return to the court Saturday. It's possible she'll be on a minutes restriction, as it wouldn't be surprising if the Mercury played it safe with their star big. On the season, she's posting an impressive 22.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. With her return, reserve center Cayla George will likely return to his usual role.

August 10, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner (ankle, knee) is listed as inactive for Thursday's game against the Wings.

Griner should be considered day-to-day at this point considering she's reached the three-week period of her three-to-four week timetable that was originally set for her to return from her injuries. Her next opportunity to take the floor will come Saturday against the Storm.

August 4, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner (ankle, knee) will remain sidelined for Friday's game against the Sun, HoopFeed.com reports.

Griner, who suffered her injuries on July 14 and was given a three-to-four week timetable to return, will not participate during Friday's contest. Considering it's been three weeks since the injury, she should likely be considered day-to-day at this point.

July 22, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner (ankle, knee), at the All-Star break, is posting 22.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists across 31.9 minutes per game.

Griner, who is expected to return to action in early-to-mid July, was dominant before going down with injury. She is posting career highs in points, assists and rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 57.7 percent from the field and 83.5 percent from the charity stripe. Arguably the best scorer in the league, Griner leads the WNBA in points per 40 minutes (28.0) for players that have appeared in at 10 games this season. She's also the best shot blocker in the NBA per 40 minutes (3.1) under the same criteria. Overall, Griner is an elite frontcourt option in DFS and should be considered on any night that the Mercury take the floor.

July 15, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner will miss three to four weeks of action due to a left knee bone bruise and a right ankle sprain that she suffered during Friday's matchup against the Lynx, ESPN.com reports.

With 8:49 remaining in the fourth quarter, Griner twisted her ankle and knee in the same sequence, causing her to hit the floor. She was eventually helped off the court and headed into the locker room. The Mercury will be without the star center's presence for around a month while she covers. Griner, up to her injury, had averaged 22.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists across 31.9 minutes per game. The team will likely have to lean on Cayla George, as well as other frontcourt players, to help pick up the slack in Griner's absence.

July 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner left Friday's matchup against the Lynx after suffering an apparent leg injury, WNBA play-by-play announcer Cindy Brunson reports.

The injury occurred in the latter portion of the game. Griner went down and clutched her leg before being helped back to the locker room. The severity of the injury is unknown at this time, so her status for Sunday's rematch against the Lynx is up in the air. Griner tallied 15 points (5-10 FG, 5-7 FT), four rebounds, one assist, and one block across 25 minutes before leaving the game.

July 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner recorded 28 points (9-16 FG, 10-10 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and one steal across 35 minutes during Wednesday's 89-84 victory over the Dream.

Griner has scored at least 28 points in three of her past four contests, demonstrating her ability to dominate the game on a regular basis. Over that four-game stretch, she's also averaged 10.8 rebounds and 3.5 blocks. She's currently putting together a career year, averaging highs in points (22.8), assists (2.1), rebounds (8.4), field-goal percentage (58.0) and free-throw percentage (84.1). Overall, Griner has proven to be one of the best frontcourt options available in DFS this season.

July 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner finished with 31 points (13-17 FG, 5-5 FT), 13 rebounds, six blocks, two assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Sunday's 81-69 victory over the Liberty.

Griner has been a towering defensive and rebounding presence lately for the Mercury, totaling 14 blocks and 35 boards over the past three games. While she's suffered from mild inconsistency in the scoring department all season, she's usually a lock to make it up with her work on the glass and swatting shots. Overall, Griner is averaging 22.4 points, 8.4 boards, 2.7 blocks and 2.1 assists across 32.2 minutes per game.

July 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner contributed 15 points (6-10 FG, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, five blocks and two assists across 33 minutes during Friday's 92-77 victory over the Stars.

Friday wasn't a great night offensively for Griner, though she certainly made up for it by recording an impressive five swats. She's currently averaging 21.9 points, 8.1 boards, 2.5 blocks and 2.1 assists across 32.0 minutes per game, making her one of the best frontcourt options available in DFS, especially when she's going up against an undersized team where her 6-foot-9 frame plays a highlighted role.

July 6, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner registered a game-high 30 points (11-17 FG, 8-9 FT) and 14 rebounds to go with three assists and three blocks across 35 minutes in Wednesday's 88-80 victory over the Mystics.

Griner had one of her more impressive performances of the season, recording 30 points at a 64 percent clip from the field. After coming off her lowest-scoring tilt of the season with just six points against the Lynx, Griner was able to prove her fantasy worth with a notable double-double on Wednesday. The center is posting averages of 22.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.3 blocks and 0.6 steals across 31.9 steals per tilt, reflecting that she should be considered a premier fantasy option due to her versatility on the court.

June 19, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner finished with 11 points (4-9 FG, 3-5 FT), three rebounds, one assist, a steal, a block and four turnovers across 26 minutes in Sunday's loss against the Sparks.

Griner was off her game yesterday as the center recorded a season-low in scoring and committed four turnovers with only a single assist. Prior to Sunday's loss, Griner had been scoring above 20 points per game consistently across five tilts, one of which surpassed 30 points. Griner's performance Sunday doesn't represent how she's been playing this season, considering she's averaging 22.9 points, 8 rebounds, two assists, and 2.5 blocks per tilt across 32.5 minutes. The center should still be considered an elite fantasy option despite a poor outing on Sunday.

June 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner finished with 21 points (7-14 FG, 7-7 FT), nine rebounds, five assists and one block across 29 minutes during Saturday's 89-87 loss to the Sparks.

Griner is now on a four-game streak where she's mustered at least 21 points and eight rebounds in every outing. She's also demonstrated her passing ability over the past three contests, totaling 12 assists. Her blocks have slowed somewhat since the beginning of the season, though that seems bound to get back on track sooner than later, as she averaged 3.1 blocks per game last season. Overall, Griner continues to be a force for the Mercury and can be deployed in DFS usually without regret.

June 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner recorded a career-high 38 points (15-19 FG, 8-10 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, one steal and four blocks across 39 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Fever.

It was another historic night for Griner, who continued her unbelievable start to the 2017 season. With averages of 24.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game through eight contests this regular season, Griner is on pace for career highs in both categories on top of averaging nearly two steals and three blocks per game.

June 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner tallied 26 points (7-16 FG, 12-14 FT), eight rebounds, four assists, and one steal during Sunday's 88-72 fall to the Liberty.

Falling two rebounds shy of what would be her fourth double-double of the season, Griner continues to showcase her offensive and defensive abilities. She's scored in double-digit numbers every game she's participated in during the 2017 season so far, while always doing her part on the boards as well. Griner is averaging 22.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks in 32.2 minutes per game. Expect Griner to see similar numbers throughout the rest of her season as she continues to reinforce that she's a premier fantasy candidate.

June 2, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner posted 28 points (10-19 FG, 8-8 FT), 13 rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks across 38 minutes in Friday's victory over the Sky.

While she has only played in five games, Griner is on pace to have the most productive season of her young WNBA career, with Thursday's performance being her third double-double of the season already. With her ability to score, rebound and block shots while playing heavy doses of minutes on a nightly basis, Griner will continue to be one of the top fantasy options this season.

May 28, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner played just 23 minutes during Saturday's 107-65 victory over the Wings, posting 12 points (4-11 FG, 4-7 FT), six rebounds, one assist, four blocks and two turnovers.

Griner's small workload was likely due to the lopsided score, so the coaching staff took this opportunity to get her some extra rest. She was still able to hit double-digit points and logged four blocks, making it a pretty efficient outing overall. With a more competitive matchup expected for Thursday against the Sky, look for Griner's playing time to be heavily increased compared to Saturday, which should boost her production up near her season averages of 20.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 3.8 blocks across 31.0 minutes.

May 24, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner tallied 19 points (6-13 FG, 7-7 FT), six rebounds, six blocks, three steals and two assists across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 69-67 loss to the Liberty.

Griner recorded nine total blocks/steals during Tuesday's loss. She didn't slack on the offensive end either, recording an efficient 19 points, including hitting all seven of her attempts from the charity stripe. Her dominance on both sides of the ball at the center position continues to make her one of the best fantasy options available.

May 20, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner produced 20 points (7-12 FG, 6-7 FT), 13 rebounds, four blocks, two assists and two steals across 34 minutes during Friday's 78-72 victory over the Stars.

Griner is having a phenomenal start to the 2017 campaign, averaging 23.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 blocks across 31.8 minutes per game. The 6-foot-9 All-WNBA center should continue to be a consistent source of points, rebounds and blocks throughout the season.

May 18, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner recorded 32 points (13-15 FG, 6-8 FT), 10 rebounds and three blocks across 30 minutes in Wednesday's victory over the Fever.

After a fairly underwhelming statistical performance in the Mercury's first game of the season, where Griner manager to record just two rebounds, the All-WNBA center showed up in a big way Wednesday. Through her five years in the league, Griner has been a given consistent production in the points, rebounds and blocks categories, and following Wednesday's performance, this season looks to be no different. She'll be an appealing fantasy option all season, although Griner will definitely come at a high price.

May 15, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Griner put up a team-high 18 points (6-11 FG) on Sunday's season-opening loss to the Wings, also providing two rebounds and one assist.

Griner is currently in her fifth WNBA season, all of which she has spent with Phoenix. The center out of Baylor has always been a consistent threat on the floor, posting averages of 14.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 3.4 blocks across 29.2 minutes.
