RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd finished with 17 points (4-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 7-7 FT), five rebounds, three steals and one assist across 31 minutes during Wednesday's 79-69 loss to the Mercury.

Loyd's struggles Wednesday were somewhat surprising considering she had dominated the Mercury over the teams' three regular season matchups, posting 23.7 points per game on 52.1 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from beyond the arc. She'll finish 2017 posting career highs in points (17.7) and three-point percentage (38.6).

Jewell Loyd: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

September 6, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd finished with 25 points (8-16 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five assists, four rebounds and one block across 33 minutes during Sunday's 85-80 victory over the Sky.

Loyd capped off another impressive regular season with Sunday's performance. While she didn't make any significant strides this year over 2016 in counting stats, she managed to raise her three-point percentage from 30.3 to 38.6 -- making her a much more efficient player. The third-year guard out of Notre Dame will head into the postseason with plenty of momentum.

August 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd supplied a career-high 33 points (12-22 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 8-9 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal across 35 minutes during Sunday's 75-71 loss to the Mercury.

The Mercury, despite holding off the Storm, had no answer for Loyd. She's been a scoring force for Seattle all season, posting 17.4 points per game on 42.7 percent from the field, 37.2 percent from three and 85.3 percent from the charity stripe. She also chips in a solid 3.4 assists, 3.2 boards and 1.3 steals across 31.1 minutes per contest. Overall, Sunday's outburst was the culmination of all the work she's put in over her three years in the league. The performance also cements her reputation as one of the better backcourt options available in DFS

August 18, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd tallied 16 points (7-17 FG, 2-8 3Pt), two assists, two blocks, one steal and one rebound across 30 minutes during Wednesday's 62-61 win over the Lynx.

Though Loyd's scoring has been choppy all season, she managed to lead the team with 16 points Wednesday. She can be someone of a risky DFS play considering her inconsistencies, though her averages of 17.2 points, 3.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals make a reasonable option on most nights.

August 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd recorded 20 points (7-12 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two rebounds, five assists, two steals, two blocks and three turnovers across 31 minutes during Saturday's 98-89 win over the Mercury.

After struggling mightily with her shot over the last two contests, Loyd finally got back on track Saturday, shooting just over 58 percent from the field and 75 percent from deep. That allowed her to match Breanna Stewart for a team-high of 20 points, while also playing well defensively with a pair of blocks and steals. While Loyd is inconsistent at times, she still has a ton of upside as a scorer and with season averages of 17.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.4 steals, Loyd will always be someone to consider in DFS contests.

August 9, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd had 11 points (4-19 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, two assists, two steals and two turnovers across 29 minutes during Tuesday's 76-81 loss to the Liberty.

Loyd has taken it upon herself to be a bigger part of the offense recently, as she's put up at least 16 shot attempts in each of the last four games. However, she definitely struggled a bit Tuesday, hitting just 21 percent of her shots from the field and just 33 percent from deep. She still reached double figures, but fantasy owners should expect much more from Loyd on a nightly basis considering her season averages of 17.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals over 31.1 minutes.

August 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd finished with 23 points (8-19 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound, one assist and one block across 28 minutes during Friday's 93-80 loss to the Wings.

Though Loyd failed to reach her averages in rebounds (3.4) or assists (3.3) per game, her impressive 23 points helped make up for it. She's been on a hot streak as of late, scoring at least 20 points in each of the past three contests. As one of the better backcourt players in the league, Loyd should likely be considered in DFS on most nights.

July 27, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd had 13 points (4-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, two steals and six turnovers across 34 minutes during Tuesday's 60-68 loss to the Sparks.

While Loyd's 13 points were solid overall, she turned the ball over a season-high six times, which killed her overall fantasy numbers. She'll look to clean up the sloppy play moving forward and the fact that she's still averaging 16.3 points per game on the season makes her someone to consider in DFS contests on a nightly basis. In addition to the 16.3 points, Loyd also adds averages of 3.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals across 31.1 minutes.

July 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd, at the All-Star break, is averaging 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.4 steals across 31 minutes per game.

Loyd isn't the most consistent scorer, as she's had multiple games scoring in the single digits when she's cold from the field. However, she has the ability to make up for it on some nights, as she's surpassed 20 points on multiple occasions. Even when Loyd isn't productive on the offensive end, she has the ability to provide defensively, hence her average of 1.4 steals per game. Overall, Loyd should be considered a viable fantasy option on most nights.

July 19, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd tallied 16 points (7-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two steals, one assist, one rebound and one block across 28 minutes during Tuesday's 94-83 loss to the Sky.

After an ice cold 1-for-9 performance for 10 points Saturday, Loyd bounced back with a 7-for-14 outing en route to 16 points. Though she averages 16.5 points per game, it's fairly inconsistent, making her somewhat of a risky DFS play. She's more than capable of making it up with supplementary statistics, however, as she averages 3.5 assists, 3.5 boards and 1.4 steals per contest.

July 16, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd recorded 10 points (1-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 8-8 FT), three rebounds, four assists, four steals, one block and one turnover across 31 minutes during Saturday's 84-90 win over the Dream.

Loyd came into Saturday's contest on fire, but came crashing back down with a 1-for-9 showing from the field against the Dream. She was still able to save her overall scoring line by connecting on all eight of her free-throw attempts, but she'll need to lock back in to fuel her value moving forward. Still, Loyd play well defensively and is averaging 1.4 steals a game, so when you add that to her other averages of 16.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists, she's going to continue to be a viable fantasy option on most nights.

July 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd posted 17 points (7-17 FG, 3-4 FT), two rebounds, six assists, two steals, and a block across 34 minutes in Wednesday's loss to the Sun.

Loyd's shot has been on and off over the course of the past few weeks, however her past two tilts indicate that she's finding her shot again. Despite a couple poor outings, Loyd is still a valuable fantasy option, averaging 16.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals across 31.1 minutes.

July 10, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd posted 22 points (8-13 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds and four assists across 34 minutes in Saturday's win over the Sparks.

After shooting a combined 5-of-20 from the field over her last two contests, Loyd bounced back with a stellar shooting performance from the field Saturday. Loyd has been hit or miss over the last couple of weeks, with four performances with 11 points or less, but she also has seven performances this season with at least 20 points. Moving forward, Loyd should be seen as a risky DFS play with very high upside.

June 30, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd tallied 21 points (9-21 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal across 35 minutes during Thursday's 96-89 loss to the Sun.

After two four-point outings over the past three games, Loyd put together a solid 21-point affair during Thursday's contest. She's been somewhat inconsistent in her scoring all season, but is posting a nice 17.5 PPG average while shooting 42.8 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from deep. She's also averaging a fair 3.6 boards, 3.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Overall, Loyd should probably be considered in DFS when the Storm are slated to play.

June 27, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd had four points (2-10 FG, 0-3 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists, one steal and four turnovers across 24 minutes during Tuesday's 70-100 loss to the Mystics.

Loyd had a dreadful day all around, shooting just 20 percent from the field and missing all three of her attempts from deep. The four points matched a season low, which was likely a result of playing just 24 minutes due to the lopsided score, in addition to her shooting struggles. Loyd averages 18.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals on the season, so fantasy owners shouldn't be scared off by this most recent performance. Loyd is usually a fantastic fantasy option due to her status as one of the top scorers in the league.

June 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd scored a team-high 27 points (6-15 FG, 1-7 3PT, 14-16 FT), to go along with five rebounds, three assists, and three steals across 35 minutes in Tuesday's fall to the Dream.

Despite going 14.3 percent from the three-point line, Loyd was still able to tie her season-high in scoring, helping her be on track to her best season of her WNBA career thus far. The third-year guard is averaging 19.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals across 31.6 minutes per tilt, qualifying her as a valuable fantasy option.

June 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd recorded 19 points (6-17 FG, 7-7 FT), five rebounds and five assists across 29 minutes in Sunday's loss to the Liberty.

After what was a hot start to the season, Loyd hit a bit of a scoring slump, but it appears as though the third-year guard has officially broken out of it having now scored a combined 46 points over her last two contests. Loyd will continue to be seen as one of the more reliable DFS options in the backcourt moving forward, as she has consistently been able to get up double-digit shot attempts this year, helping even her less efficient performances productive.

June 10, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd tallied 25 points (9-20 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block across 33 minutes during Friday's 83-80 loss to the Fever.

Loyd's 25 points Friday broke her out of a three-game slump where she totaled 33 points on 10-of-27 shooting. Despite her poor streak of games, Loyd is still averaging 19.0 points per game on 49.1 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from beyond the arc. The third-year guard can also chip in some peripheral stats, as she averages 3.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.2 steals per contest. Overall, she remains one of the better DFS options available, as she can be counted on for almost 20 points per game every night.

June 7, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd finished with 10 points (3-11 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, six assists, one steal and one turnover across 32 minutes during Tuesday's 85-76 win over the Stars.

Loyd's struggles on the offensive side of the ball continued, as she shot just 27 percent from the field and missed all three of her three-point attempts. While her six rebounds and six assists helped make up for the lack of scoring, it's still a concerning development, as Loyd has now logged back-to-back games with 10 points, which is her lowest total of the season. That said, Loyd is still averaging 18.1 points per game, so as soon as she sheds this recent shooting slump, she'll return to being one of the better fantasy options.

June 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd finished Saturday's 100-77 loss to the Lynx with 10 points (4-10 FG, 2-2 FT), one rebound, two assists, one steal and three turnovers across 33 minutes.

After a roaring start to the 2017 campaign where she logged 25 points or more over the first three games, Loyd's production has started to taper off a bit recently. She's combined for just 23 points over the team's last two contests, which included a season-low 10 points on Saturday. That's in large part due to Loyd's decrease in shot attempts, as it appears she's taken on less of a scoring role. That said, Loyd is still one of the elite scorers in the league and she could go off at any point in time, so she'll continue to be a great fantasy option moving forward despite the recent drop in performance.

May 30, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd tallied 13 points (3-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five assists, two rebounds and two steals across 28 minutes during Sunday's 94-70 victory over the Fever.

Loyd jumped out to an incredible opening three games this season, averaging 26.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steals per contest. She's come back down to earth over the past two outings though, averaging 14.5 points, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 rebounds per game. While her potential this season likely lands closer to her most recent two-game stretch, she's shown enough big-game ability to remain DFS relevant.

May 22, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd recorded a game-high 26 points (10-14 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds and one assist in Sunday's victory over the Mystics.

Loyd continued her unbelievably hot start to the regular season, with Sunday's performance being her third straight to start the year with at least 25 points. She is also doing so while shooting a very impressive 60 percent from the field and 61.5 percent from behind the arc. While this level of production is likely not sustainable for the whole year, there is no doubt that Loyd is looking to take a big step forward in her third WNBA season. With the starting guard also grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game, there is no doubt Loyd is currently a elite fantasy option, and her price will soon start to reflect that.

May 15, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd registered a game-high 27 points (10-18 FG, 3-4 3Pt) to go along with her seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal throughout 35 minutes of play during Sunday's home-opening win against the Fever.

Loyd has been offensively aggressive to start her 2017 campaign, as she recorded 25 points and four assists during the Storm's season-opener on Saturday to go along with her 27 points on Sunday. The guard out of Notre Dame is currently in her third year in the WNBA, averaging 14.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists throughout 28.9 minutes per contest.

May 13, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd tallied 25 points (10-18 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds and two steals in Saturday's 78-68 season-opening loss to the Sparks.

Loyd turned the ball over nine times in 33 minutes, but found herself productive when she got her shots off. She was the leading scorer for both squads, and seems to remain a prominent part of the offense for the Storm throughout the season.

May 7, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd provided 13 points (4-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds and three steals across 22 minutes during Sunday's 72-55 loss to the Mercury.

Loyd, a 23-year-old who averaged 16.5 points per game last season (good for eighth in the league), has come out of the gates strong this preseason, dropping 13 points Sunday after dropping 14 points during Wednesday's preseason opener. Though she hasn't been very efficient, totaling 7-of-20 from the field over the past two games, she'll probably trend closer to the 43.1 percent she shot last season as the year rolls on. The 5-10 guard also chipped in 3.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals across 31.6 minutes per game in the 2016 campaign, seemingly making her a solid DFS play due to her 30-minute workload and all-around statistical production.

May 4, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Loyd recorded 14 points (3-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 6-6 FT), one assist, one steal and two turnovers across 16 minutes during Wednesday's exhibition victory over Phoenix.

Loyd emerged as one of the WNBA's young stars in her second season with the Storm last year, averaging 16.5 points per game, which placed her eighth overall for the entire league. While she's expected to once again share the offensive load with Breanna Stewart, who finished sixth in the league with 18.3 points per game, Loyd is still a safe bet for another strong showing, as she's only 23 years old and likely has her best basketball ahead of her.
