FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays
FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Bud Norris, TAM at LOS ($6,600): Norris brings a strong ceiling for a player of his price, having scored over 50 fantasy points twice in his last 10 starts and 48 in another. The Rays strike out 24.2 percent of the time against right-handed pitching and have generated a mediocre .302 wOBA against that handedness as well. Norris has also pitched very well in both of his home starts since being acquired by the Dodgers, giving up only three earned runs over 11 innings while also recording 13 strikeouts.

Catcher

Travis d'Arnaud, NYM vs. STL ($2,100): There aren't really any value options at catcher Tuesday that are completely wart-free, so I'm rolling with a near-min priced option who has plenty of upside in d'Arnaud. He's struggled considerably against lefties over a very limited sample this season but brings solid pop in his bat and draws the Cardinals' Jaime Garcia, who's surrendered a .322 wOBA and 10 of his 11 homers on the season to right-handed bats and a .339 wOBA and half of those round-trippers when facing them on the road. He's also been yielding considerably more hard contact (39.5 percent) over his two post-All-Star break starts.

First Base

Adrian Gonzalez, LOS vs. TAM ($3,000): Rays starter Chris Archer has showed some flashes of dominance recently but is still surrendering a .371 wOBA and 39 percent hard contact rate to lefty bats on the road this season. Gonzalez has a .343 wOBA against righties this season and a .387 wOBA in July, along with a 42.9 percent hard contact rate.

Second Base

Ryan Schimpf, SDP at TOR ($2,200): Schimpf remains at $2,200 coming off an 0-for-4 night Monday, so I'm tabbing him again as another player with plenty of upside to offer at a near-minimum price. Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman has pitched well recently but has given up a .346 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season, along with a 34.3 percent hard contact rate. Schimpf has a .406 wOBA, .390 ISO, 39.3 percent hard contact rate and eight of his nine homers on the season against right-handed pitching.

Third Base

Adrian Beltre, TEX vs. OAK ($3,200): Beltre is coming off a mammoth 4-for-5 night Monday that netted 50.1 fantasy points, he scored 31.7 fantasy points Saturday, and he has two other double-digit fantasy point outings in his last 10 games, proving he's still bringing plenty of upside to the table. He also owns a .347 wOBA against righties at home and has a .349 wOBA overall in July. His hard contact rate is also on the rise as well, with that figure at 39.5 percent in the 10 games following the All-Star break. Oakland starter Sonny Gray has given up a .379 wOBA and 11 homers to righty bats along with a 39.1 percent hard contact rate. He's also struggled in both of his post-All-Star break starts, generating an 8.18 ERA and surrendering a .409 wOBA in 11 innings over that span.

Shortstop

Aledmys Diaz, STL at NYM ($2,700): As has essentially been the case all season long, Diaz continues to be significantly underpriced relative to his production. He's slashing .315/.382/.521 on the season and has double-digit fantasy point outings in three of his last seven games, giving you a glimpse at the upside he offers on any given night. Diaz also has a massive .436 wOBA and .245 ISO against right-handed pitching on the road, along with a .391 wOBA in July. Mets starter Bartolo Colon has struggled in two of his last three trips to the mound and has generated a 6.10 ERA and given up a .393 wOBA over four July starts.

Outfield

Kevin Pillar, TOR vs. SDP ($2,500): Pillar is coming off a 27.7-fantasy point night Monday and now draws the Padres' Andrew Cashner, who's surrendered a .369 wOBA to right-handed hitters that rises to .412 when facing them away from Petco Park. Pillar has a .348 wOBA against righties at Rogers Centre this season and has been hitting very well overall the last several weeks, generating a .300 average over his last 18 games.

Jackie Bradley, Jr., BOS vs. DET ($3,000): It's never a bad idea to have some exposure against Tigers starter Mike Pelfrey, particularly in Fenway Park. Pelfrey has surrendered a .392 wOBA to lefty bats this season and a 5.74 xFIP when facing them on the road. Meanwhile Bradley has used Fenway to his advantage, generating a .407 wOBA in home games this season. He's also posted a .409 wOBA against righties, along with a 39.8 percent hard contact rate.

Mark Trumbo, BAL vs. COL ($3,200): Trumbo can also be had at a bargain price and draws an appealing matchup against Rockies righty Chad Bettis, who's given up a .359 wOBA and 10 homers to right-handed bats this season along with a 37.9 percent hard contact rate. Trumbo has a .399 wOBA and .276 ISO against right-handed pitching and a .437 wOBA and 43.4 percent hard contact rate against that handedness at Camden Yards.
