FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Zack Godley, ARI vs SDP ($9,200): Arizona entered Friday on a 13-game winning streak, and that form alone gives Godley winning upside. That his matchup comes against a lowly Padre offense that has a .304 wOBA (second-to-last), 88 wOBA and 25.0 percent K rate against righties just adds to Godley's appeal.

Catcher

Mike Zunino, SEA vs. LAA ($2,500): I'm inclined to take a few Mariners in my lineup Saturday against Angles starter Andrew Heaney, who has a 10.80 ERA and is allowing righties to post a .544 wOBA and 1.360 OPS. Zunino is cheap and has some power upside, while owning a .353 wOBA and .260 ISO against lefties on the year.

First Base

Justin Bour, MIA at ATL ($3,000): Fresh off the disabled list Friday for the first time since late July, Bour's price hasn't caught up with his prior production. He owns a .428 wOBA, 168 wRC+ and .308 ISO against lefties to date, giving him very clear potential against Braves' rookie Max Fried, who's been effectively wild since his debut, allowing five runs in 11.2 innings but 20 baserunners.

Second Base

Ozzie Albies, ATL vs. MIA ($3,300): For all his early struggles after his promotion, Albies has been white hot of late, having hit in seven straight and in 19 of his last 22. He's feasted on left-handers even with some of his early struggles, owning a .442 wOBA, 175 wRC+ and .321 ISO entering a matchup with the Marlins' Adam Conley and his 5.09 ERA.

Third Base

Jake Lamb, ARI vs. SDP ($3,000): Padres' starter Jhoulys Chacin has a 6.96 ERA on the road, where he allows lefties to post a .426 wOBA and 1.031 OPS. That alone is enough to target Lamb at this reduced rate (he's hitting only .215 in the second half), as his prowess against opposite-handed arms is well known – he owns a .392 wOBA, 137 wRC+ and .282 ISO against them at home.

Shortstop

Dansby Swanson, ATL vs. MIA ($3,300): It seems unbelievable that Swanson is the fifth priciest option at his position given his mid-season demotion to Triple-A. But since his return, he's done nothing but hit, especially against lefties. He owns a .422 wOBA, 162 wRC+ and .970 OPS against lefties since Aug. 9. He has next to no power potential, keeping his upside down, but Swanson looks like a safe play against the aforementioned Conley.

Outfield

Nelson Cruz, SEA vs. LAA ($3,900): I mentioned taking a few Mariners early, and at under $4,000, Cruz comes with top end potential. He's crushed lefties at home to the tune of a .402 wOBA and 157wRC+. And his 41.2 percent fly ball rate seems to play well against Heaney's 52.0 percent to righties on the road. It's a small sample size (36 batters), but of those fly balls, Heaney has allowed 53.8 percent of them to leave the yard.

Justin Upton, LAA at SEA ($3,400): Upton's price feels a little low. He's put up double-digit fantasy points in five of his last seven, only once being shut out and going for 9.2 points in the other outing. He's been great against lefties to the tune of a .472 wOBA, 200 wRC+, 1.154 OPS and .369 ISO, making for a nice play against Andrew Albers even if his home/road splits work against Upton (1.64 ERA, .225 wOBA against righties versus 5.40/.389 on the road.)

Brandon Nimmo, NYM vs. CIN($3,200): Nimmo brings a hot bat into Saturday, going 7-of-18 with two homers, eight RBI, six runs scored and nine walks in the early part of the season's final month. That paired with a .391 wOBA and 145 wRC+ against righties overall make him a nice buy on a bad offense that seemingly has to produce something against the Reds' Homer Bailey and his 7.24 ERA.
