Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

All 30 MLB teams will be in action Tuesday beginning at 4:10 PM Eastern time. Both suggested pitchers have been performing well of late and are primed to do so again in favorable matchups. Not having to spend an exorbitant price on pitching also leaves room to grab hitters at various price points, so the batters listed below come from all across the price spectrum.

PITCHER

Dereck Rodriguez, SF at SD ($35): While the underlying numbers suggest Rodriguez has been getting a bit lucky, it's tough to argue with the rookie southpaw's success. He has a 2.75 ERA through 11 appearances (nine starts) and has hurled five consecutive quality starts. San Diego ranks 29th in runs (3.70) and strikes out fourth-most (9.43) per game, so look for Rodriguez to keep rolling in this favorable matchup.

Masahiro Tanaka, NYY vs. BAL ($46): When Tanaka's on, he can singlehandedly carry daily lineups to victory. That was the case in his last start -- a complete-game shutout in which he struck out nine Rays. Both his 3.58 xFIP this season and 3.62 career ERA suggest Tanaka's 4.09 ERA should continue to improve moving forward. Additionally, the Japanese righty's wipeout splitter has fueled a 24.9 percent strikeout rate, giving him an immense ceiling against the worst team in baseball.

CATCHER

Buster Posey, SF at SD ($13): Posey heated up in his team's last series, producing seven hits to go with four runs and four RBI in three games against the Brewers. He should have no trouble carrying that momentum into San Diego against struggling lefty Clayton Richard, who has 20 walks over his past five starts and an 8.28 ERA in July. Posey has a .379 wOBA against lefties this season while Richard's allowed a .335 mark to batters from the right side.

FIRST BASE

Matt Olson, OAK vs. TOR ($15): Blue Jays righty Sam Gaviglio has struggled on the road, posting a 7.92 ERA while lasting just 25 combined innings over six starts. Olson's primed to punish the struggling starter, as he has a respectable .346 wOBA against righties and all but three of the left-handed slugger's 21 home runs have come in that split.

SECOND BASE

Cesar Hernandez, PHI at BOS ($14): The switch-hitting Hernandez has been better on the road this year, posting a .359 road wOBA overall and a .404 mark against lefties. Philadelphia's leadoff man gets a nearly ideal combination of park and opposing pitcher to operate against here -- Fenway Park ranks fourth with a 1.14 park factor while Boston lefty Drew Pomeranz has a 6.91 ERA and .411 wOBA allowed to batters from the right side.

THIRD BASE

Eugenio Suarez, CIN at DET ($23): Suarez has been nothing short of spectacular against left-handed pitching this season. In 104 such plate appearances, he has a .500 wOBA along with 17 walks. Don't count on Tigers lefty Matt Boyd to slow Suarez down, as Boyd has a 6.19 ERA in 10 starts since the beginning of June and a 7.41 ERA over his past seven starts.

SHORTSTOP

Tim Anderson, CWS vs. KC ($12): Anderson has a respectable .333 career wOBA against lefties and gets moved to the leadoff spot when the opposition puts one on the mound. With 14 homers and 21 steals this season, he can contribute in a lot of ways for a $12 shortstop. It also doesn't hurt that Royals southpaw Danny Duffy is surrendering a .344 wOBA to batters from the right side.

OUTFIELD

Brandon Nimmo, NYM at WAS ($12): Nimmo's .386 wOBA against righties climbs to an even more impressive .408 outside of pitcher-friendly Citi Field (0.75 park factor). Nationals Park has a much more hitter-friendly lean with a park factor of 1.10, and Washington righty Tanner Roark has allowed a .391 wOBA in his home park to batters from the left side over a 114-hitter sample this season.

A.J. Pollock, ARI vs. TEX ($19): While the new humidor at Chase Field has slowed down a few of Arizona's bats, Pollock continues to rake at his home venue. His home wOBA is .413, including a .386 mark against righties. Meanwhile, Texas' Bartolo Colon has surrendered a .354 wOBA in righty-on-righty matchups this season and has a 6.68 ERA over his last 12 starts.

Matt Kemp, LAD vs. MIL ($17): Kemp's having a fantastic season against southpaws, posting a .402 wOBA through 113 at-bats facing lefties. Expect that success to continue against Milwaukee's Wade Miley, whose career wOBA allowed to batters from the right side is .338.
