FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Sunday has a few slates to enjoy on FanDuel. You can play the three games starting in the 2 p.m. EDT hour, the two starting in the 3 p.m. hour or the two in the 4 p.m. hour. However, you can't play all three slates at once. So here are a couple recommendations for each slate, giving you a little help no matter which one you play.

2 p.m.

Tyson Ross, STL at KAN ($6,800):Luke Weaver was a late scratch, which means Ross gets the spot start. It's a nice little matchup for him to step into. The Royals have scored the fewest runs in the league, and they are vying for the worst record in the majors as well. It's about as easy an opponent you can take the mound against, which bodes well for the former Padre.

Carlos Correa, HOU vs. SEA ($3,600): Correa is back from the disabled list, and he brings his .819 OPS and 13 homers with him. Those numbers are down from last year, but the injury plays part in that, and those are still fine numbers for a shortstop. Meanwhile, the Mariners have brought Erasmo Ramirez off the DL to start this game. That would be the same Ramirez with a 10.24 ERA in two starts this year.

Yonder Alonso, CLE at CWS ($3,100): The power Alonso suddenly showed last season has continued this year, as he has 20 homers in 106 games. The lefty has done most of his damage against righties, and that's just what Dylan Covey is. Covey is also a pitcher with a career ERA of 6.58.

3 p.m.

Jake Arrieta, PHI at SDP ($8,100): Arrieta is the only pitcher you want to consider in this two-game slate. One of the games is at Coors Field, and the Padres are starting Joey Lucchesi. Arrieta, meanwhile, is pitching in the friendly confines of Petco Park against a team with a .299 OBP collectively.

Brian Dozier, LAD at COL ($4,000): Since joining the Dodgers, Dozier has three homers in 10 games. That gives him 19 total after he had 34 last year. The fact this game is in Coors Field could easily mean another dinger for Dozier. Another point in his favor? Rockies starter Chad Bettis has a woeful 9.74 ERA at home.

Max Muncy, LAD at COL ($3,800):: Hey, there's only two games worth of players to choose from. Why not load up on Dodgers going up against Chad Bettis in Coors Field? Bettis has given up 1.53 homers per nine innings, and a lot of that has been at home, naturally. Muncy's breakout season has seen him hit 26 homers, including six in his last 30 games.

4 p.m.

Joe Musgrove, PIT at SFG ($6,600): Musgrove has been a road warrior this year. He's posted a 1.67 ERA in away games. Of the four teams in action in this block, the Giants have the worst offense, so this is also a decent matchup for the Pirates hurler.

Kole Calhoun, LAA vs. OAK ($3,100): Calhoun's overall numbers look bad, but a terrible start is the main reason for that. The 30-year-old adjusted his swing, and now over his last 30 games he's slashed .282/.360/.655 and hit 11 home runs. Trevor Cahill has been Joe Musgrove's polar opposite this year. While he's been great at home, he has a 6.44 ERA on the road. Cahill's road ERA last season was 7.07, so this isn't a one-year fluke.

Jed Lowrie, OAK at LAA ($2,900): Lowrie has been his typical, underrated self this season. He's averaged 10.1 fantasy points per game, and he's hit a career-high 17 homers in 113 games. Taylor Cole is getting the start for the Angels, but he may be the starter in name only. The 28-year-old usually pitches out of the bullpen, and a lot of relief pitchers may be used in this one.
