Yahoo DFS Baseball: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Saturday's all-day MLB slate features seven games and begins at 7:10 PM Eastern time. Below, you'll find which individual pitchers and hitters are primed to provide the best value, as well as the top lineup stacking options in this slate.

Pitching Overview

Most of the pitching options in action here are middling, but Clayton Kershaw ($50) stands out as a guy to target for owners looking to spend big on the mound. With questions swirling around Mike Foltynewicz (injury) and Noah Syndergaard (performance), Kershaw is the clear choice among the priciest guys.

Jon Gray ($41) has a 2.21 ERA and a .269 wOBA against in 20.1 innings outside of hitter-friendly Coors Field this season, making him an enticing option in Atlanta. Meanwhile, Milwaukee's Brandon Woodruff has a 5.81 ERA but just a 3.79 xFIP to go with a hefty 27.1 percent strikeout rate. He should start to close the gap between his ERA and xFIP at pitcher-friendly Citi Field.

Reynaldo Lopez ($32) is an option to target for owners looking to minimize spending on the mound. While his season numbers still look ugly, the White Sox righty has posted consecutive quality starts and a 13:2 K:BB against the Royals and Tigers in his last two starts. He once again draws Detroit's bottom-five offense in this one.

Key Values/Chalk

Mike Trout ($26) has a good chance to hit one out of the park against Jorge Lopez in Kansas City, as Lopez has surrendered seven home runs in 30 innings this season.

Mitch Haniger ($20) has crushed left-handed pitching to the tune of a .589 wOBA through 20 plate appearances this season while fellow right-handed hitting outfielder Domingo Santana ($17) has excelled at home ahead of Seattle's date with Rangers lefty Mike Minor.

Owners who care more about Reynaldo Lopez's 6.51 FIP and 7.46 ERA than his last two strong starts should take a flier on Tigers shortstop Ronny Rodriguez ($13), who has showcased impressive power in his first handful of games this season.

Stacks

White Sox vs. Ryan Carpenter (Tigers)

Jose Abreu (1B - $17), Yoan Moncada (3B - $18), James McCann (C - $13)

Get as many White Sox as you can in there against this 28-year-old spot starter, as Carpenter has a 7.41 FIP and 7.25 ERA in 22.1 career major-league innings. Abreu came up short of 25 home runs for the first time in his career with 22 last season, but he's on pace to get back over that mark this season. Moncada's finally living up to his billing as a top prospect, and McCann already has a pair of three-hit games this week and is rolling out of the cleanup spot.

Cubs vs. Zack Godley (Diamondbacks)

Anthony Rizzo (1B - $20), Daniel Descalso (2B - $15), Jason Heyward ($20)

Left-handed hitters have a .377 wOBA against Godley this season, so the those in Chicago's lineup are primed for success. Rizzo is posting healthy run and RBI totals despite a minuscule BABIP in the .200 range. Descalso has spent some time in the leadoff spot recently and will be motivated to deliver against the team that employed him in 2017 and 2018. Heyward has been the best of the bunch and one of the league's best hitters overall in 2019.

Brewers vs. Noah Syndergaard (Mets)

Mike Moustakas (2B - $14), Christian Yelich (OF - $27), Travis Shaw (3B - $10)

This is more about how good the Brewers' hitters are rather than a knock on Syndergaard. Syndergaard's underlying statistics suggest he's likely to get back on track despite an early 5.90 ERA, but that turnaround may not come against a lefty-laden Milwaukee lineup that's pummeled right-handed pitching. Moustakas has a wOBA over .400 against righties, while Yelich is over .500. Shaw has been a notch below them overall but is hanging around .400 against righties on the road.
