Friday's MLB schedule features a full 16-game slate, and the early betting market has produced more notable movement on totals than moneylines. With September underway and 22 teams entering the weekend within 5.5 games of a postseason position, several matchups carry added importance as the playoff races tighten.

One market worth watching is Tigers-Guardians. Cleveland opened around -143, but the price has softened into the -130s, indicating money coming back on Detroit. The total has also been active, with an opener around 7.5 and current prices reaching 8 at several books.

Another interesting move comes in Rays-Rangers. Texas opened as approximately a +104 underdog but has moved to around -103, creating a favorite/underdog flip and representing one of the stronger side moves on Friday's board. Tampa Bay remains favored at some sportsbooks, however, so there is still meaningful disagreement across the market. The total is currently sitting around 8.

Braves-Phillies owns one of the slate's lowest totals at 6.5 to 7, which makes sense with Chris Sale and Cristopher Sanchez scheduled to start. Meanwhile, Red Sox-Orioles is around 8, with Ranger Suárez facing Shane Baz.

Overall, Friday's most interesting early signals are the Texas moneyline move, Cleveland's price decline and several totals being pushed toward key numbers as the market settles ahead of tonight's games.

Toronto Blue Jays at Kansas City Royals Best Bets and Predictions

Blue Jays vs. Royals Prediction: Over 9.5 Runs Pick for Friday, September 4

The Blue Jays and Royals open a three-game series at Kauffman Stadium in a matchup that has the ingredients for plenty of offense. Toronto's lineup has caught fire, while both teams could be forced into their bullpens relatively early. With the total available at 9.5 runs, Over 9.5 is one of my best bet for Blue Jays vs. Royals on Friday.

Blue Jays vs. Royals Starting Pitching Matchup

Jameson Taillon makes his return to Toronto's rotation carrying a 2-6 record and 5.68 ERA. More importantly for the total, Taillon hasn't started since Aug. 10 and has failed to complete five innings in each of his last four appearances.

Kansas City counters with Daniel Lynch IV, who owns a strong 3.06 ERA. However, Lynch hasn't worked deep into games recently, completing 4.1 innings or fewer in each of his last three starts.

That potentially puts considerable pressure on both bullpens.

Blue Jays vs. Royals Over 9.5 Betting Value

Toronto's offense provides the strongest argument for the Over. The Blue Jays scored 17 runs over their last two games against Cleveland, including an 11-run outburst Wednesday, and have won five of their last six.

The matchup becomes especially attractive if Toronto can get Lynch out early. Kansas City's bullpen has posted an ERA above 5.00, ranking among the worst relief units in baseball.

Toronto's bullpen isn't entering Friday in an ideal situation either. The Blue Jays used four high-leverage relievers Thursday, creating additional potential for Kansas City to contribute enough offense to push this game past the number.

Blue Jays vs. Royals Best Bet

Neither starter needs to get completely knocked around for this Over to cash. Short outings from Taillon and Lynch could create five-plus innings against bullpens that offer opportunities for additional scoring.

Toronto's surging offense should do much of the heavy lifting, while Taillon's return from an extended absence gives Kansas City a path to contribute.

With 9.5 still available, I'll back the offenses Friday night.

Betting Pick: Blue Jays-Royals Over 9.5 Runs

Tampa Bay Rays at Texas Rangers Best Bets and Predictions

Rays vs. Rangers Prediction: Tampa Bay Moneyline Pick for Friday, September 4

The Rays look to bounce back Friday night when they face the Rangers at Globe Life Field. Texas took Thursday's series opener, but Tampa Bay enters Friday at 83-57 and has a favorable starting pitching setup with Nick Martinez on the mound. With the Rays available at a reasonable price, Tampa Bay's moneyline is my best bet for Rays vs. Rangers on Friday.

Rays vs. Rangers Starting Pitching Matchup

Martinez enters Friday with a 13-4 record, 2.99 ERA and 1.10 WHIP across 153.2 innings. The right-hander has provided Tampa Bay with consistency throughout the season and gives the Rays a significant advantage entering this matchup.

Texas is expected to counter with Trevor Williams as an opener before turning the game over to Kumar Rocker. Rocker is 5-10 with a 4.44 ERA and struggled throughout August, posting a 6.00 ERA across six appearances. He also owns a 6.48 ERA in two career outings against Tampa Bay.

That pitching setup creates an opportunity for a Rays offense looking to rebound after Thursday's loss.

Rays Moneyline Betting Value

The market has actually made Tampa Bay cheaper despite significant public support. The Rays opened around -126 but have moved to approximately -117 at DraftKings, while some sportsbooks are offering prices closer to -106.

DraftKings betting splits show 83% of moneyline bets and 68% of the handle on Tampa Bay. The line moving toward Texas despite that support is worth monitoring, but the lower price also creates a more attractive entry point on the Rays.

Tampa Bay's overall body of work remains another major advantage. The Rays enter Friday 13 games ahead of the Rangers in the win column and have one of their most dependable starters taking the ball.

Rays vs. Rangers Best Bet

Texas has home-field advantage and won Thursday's opener, but Friday's matchup sets up differently. Martinez provides Tampa Bay with the pitching stability needed to control the early innings, while the Williams-Rocker combination presents considerably more uncertainty for Texas.

At the current price, I'll back the better team with the stronger pitching outlook.

Betting Pick: Tampa Bay Rays Moneyline (-120 or better)

Best Bet: Rays ML for 1 unit (Circa Sports -114)

Chicago Cubs at Miami Marlins Best Bets and Predictions

Cubs vs. Marlins Prediction: Chicago Moneyline Pick for Friday, September 4

The Cubs open a three-game series against the Marlins at loanDepot park with postseason positioning becoming increasingly important. Chicago enters at 79-62 after splitting a four-game series with Milwaukee, while Miami sits at 71-70. With Shota Imanaga on the mound and the Cubs holding the stronger overall offensive profile, Chicago's moneyline is my best bet for Cubs vs. Marlins on Friday.

Cubs vs. Marlins Starting Pitching Matchup

Imanaga gets the start for Chicago and enters at 8-10 with a 4.01 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 148 strikeouts. His season numbers aren't dominant, but the left-hander offers Chicago an appealing matchup against a Miami lineup that has been less effective against southpaws.

The Marlins counter with Janson Junk, who is 6-8 with a 4.11 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. Junk has struck out only 70 batters this season, giving Chicago's lineup an opportunity to consistently put the ball in play and generate traffic on the bases.

Cubs Moneyline Betting Value

The biggest reason to back Chicago is the combination of its lineup and reasonable moneyline price. The Cubs are eight games better than Miami in the standings and enter Friday firmly in the National League playoff race.

Chicago also catches a Miami bullpen that isn't at full strength. The Marlins are currently without closer Pete Fairbanks and setup man Anthony Bender, potentially creating a significant late-inning advantage if the Cubs can force Junk out of the game.

The market has Chicago priced in the -125 to -135 range, depending on the sportsbook. That's a much more attractive proposition than laying -1.5 runs on the road, particularly against a Miami team that has played well at loanDepot park.

Cubs vs. Marlins Best Bet

Miami deserves respect at home, but Chicago has more paths to victory. Imanaga gives the Cubs a solid starting-pitching foundation, while Chicago owns the deeper lineup and could have the advantage once the game reaches the bullpens.

With the price remaining manageable, I'll back Chicago to take Friday's series opener.

Betting Pick: Chicago Cubs Moneyline (-135 or better)

Best Bet: Cubs ML for 1 unit (Betr -135)
