Sunday's MLB slate on September 20 presents several interesting opportunities as the regular season enters its final stretch. We're fading two high-profile starters in the strikeout market, including an ace still rebuilding his workload, before targeting offense in San Diego despite the traditionally pitcher-friendly surroundings at Petco Park.
Milwaukee Brewers
vs. Baltimore Orioles
- Jacob Misiorowski under 7.5 strikeouts, +132 @ FanDuel
Fading Misiorowski's strikeout ability is always risky, but the combination of an elevated line, recent performances, and the Brewers' potential to protect his workload with the playoffs right around the corner makes the under worth backing at +132. Misiorowski leads the majors with 243 strikeouts and owns a spectacular 1.89 ERA, but Milwaukee has reasons to manage his workload after already clinching the NL Central and entering the final stretch of the regular season. His recent workload shows a few worrying signs as well, as Misiorowski has pitched more than six innings just once in his last six starts dating back to Aug. 15, and he hasn't cleared the over on 7.5 strikeouts five times over that span. Eight punchouts require both dominant stuff and sufficient innings, making the plus-money under worth the risk based on his recent tendencies.
New York Yankees
vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
- Corbin Burnes under 4.5 strikeouts, -125 @ FanDuel
Burnes' workload provides the clearest argument for this under. The veteran has made only two starts in 2026 since returning from Tommy John surgery, throwing three innings in his season debut before reaching 4.2 innings against Miami last time out. He recorded two and four strikeouts in those appearances, respectively, leaving him below this number both times. Now he faces a Yankees lineup in a game where Arizona has little reason to suddenly extend him deep into the outing. Until Burnes shows he's ready for a more conventional starter workload, asking him to record five strikeouts is aggressive enough to make the under attractive, especially since he'll face one of the most productive lineups in the American League in a hitter-friendly environment.
Miami Marlins
vs. San Diego Padres
- Over 8 runs, -110 @ BetMGM
Petco Park normally makes an under tempting, but the pitching matchup creates enough uncertainty to go the other direction. Sandy Alcantara enters with a respectable 3.84 ERA, while Walker Buehler carries a 4.58 ERA and 1.37 WHIP into Sunday's start. Buehler also allowed nine runs in San Diego's loss at Colorado on Sept. 9, so he's been prone to mistakes here and there. The Padres have been red-hot offensively and enter this game having scored at least seven runs in each of their last four games, including Saturday's 8-2 win. The Padres have won four in a row, and each of their last 11 games have ended with over eight total runs, bolstering the scenario in which that trend continues Sunday. With the total sitting at eight rather than 8.5, exactly eight runs still provides push protection.
