MLB Picks Today: Expert Betting Tips and Analysis

San Diego Padres vs. Washington Nationals Betting Picks

  • Both teams to score 3+ runs (+100) at DraftKings for 1 Unit

The Nationals are second in runs scored and third in OPS in baseball. They will try to stay hot at the plate against Nick Pivetta, who will be making his first start since April because of a forearm injury. He threw 64 pitches in his final rehab start, so he will likely be limited Monday. That's worrisome because both Mason Miller and Adrian Morejon might not be available after pitching two of the last three days, including Sunday.

The Padres will take their hacks against Jake Irvin, who has followed up his 1.43 WHIP last season with a 1.40 WHIP this year. He also has problems keeping hitters inside the ballpark, giving up 1.6 HR/9. Behind him is a Nationals bullpen that has a 5.08 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP. They have also allowed a whopping 100 home runs. This is a favorable spot for both teams to score at least three runs.

Cincinnati Reds at Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Picks

  • Reds team total 3.5 runs: OVER (-113) at FanDuel for 1 Unit

The Reds just took two of three games against the Brewers, scoring 12 runs in Sunday's series final. That marked their fourth straight game with at least five runs. One of the hottest hitters in baseball right now is Elly De La Cruz, who is 26-for-58 (.448) with three home runs, nine RBI and 15 runs scored over his last 14 games.

The Dodgers plan to use Emmet Sheehan to either start or fill multiple innings in a relief role in this matchup. Prior to being sent down, he allowed 1.9 HR/9. Opponents have a 10.5 percent barrel rate against him this season, which isn't helping his cause. We only need the Reds to score four runs with a guaranteed nine innings at the plate on the road, so this over is appealing.

San Francisco Giants vs. St. Louis Cardinals Betting Picks

  • Both teams to score 3+ runs (+110) at DraftKings for 1 Unit

Logan Webb will take the mound for the Giants after getting hammered in his last start. He faced the Pirates on the road, allowing nine runs over two innings. A concerning stat is that his strikeout rate has dropped from 26.2 percent last season to 19.2 percent this year. Behind him is a bullpen that has a 1.42 WHIP and has produced the third-fewest strikeouts in baseball as a unit. The Cardinals combined for 47 runs over their last six games, so asking them to score just three runs here isn't all that daunting.

The Giants could also reach three runs in this matchup, making this a wager to target at plus odds. Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy has allowed at least three runs in seven of his last eight starts. During that span, he had a 1.68 WHIP. His 3.97 ERA for the season looks nice, but his 5.36 xERA is concerning. He doesn't give himself much margin for error, considering his 16.8 percent strikeout rate.
