MLB Picks Today: Expert MLB Picks for
Saturday, September 12

We're closing in on the final weeks of the 2026 Major League Baseball season. There are now just about roughly 14 to 16 regular-season games remaining for most teams, and things are getting interesting down the stretch as teams jockey for playoff spots. Others are simply playing out the string.

After our first losing Saturday in 10 columns in the final weekend of August, we bounced back with a 3-1 (75.0%, +147) last Saturday. Let's keep plucking winners, and perhaps combine them with some college football action, and, now, Week 1 NFL action, too. Let's get started!

Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers: Expert Betting Tips and Analysis

The Reds (69-78) and the Brewers (92-56) meet at American Family Field on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. ET in the middle contest of a three-game series.

Cincinnati isn't quite eliminated from postseason contention, at least mathematically, sitting 10 games out of the final NL Wild Card spot with 15 regular-season games remaining. As Yogi Berra used to say, "It's getting late, early."

The Reds will be trying to solve Brewers LHP Kyle Harrison (10-4, 3.66 ERA, 1.27 WHIP), as Cincinnati looks to bounce back from an embarrassing 20-0 loss in the series opener. Cincinnati is just 16-20 against left-handed starting pitchers this season, while going 17-30 inside the NL Central, and it is 33-40 on the road.

In Friday's 20-0 laugher, the Brew Crew piled up 23 hits, while the Reds had just two knocks. Jackson Chourio went 4 for 6 with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBI, while Brice Turang was a perfect 3 for 3 with a double, homer, three runs scored, a walk and four RBI. Willson Contreras ended up 2 for 5 with a homer and six RBI, while Garrett Mitchell was 3 for 5 with a grand slam and three runs scored, while Joey Ortiz ended up 4 for 5 iwth two runs scored out of the 9-hole.

Harrison has struggled in his past two outings, allowing 13 earned runs (15 total) with 19 hits in just 7.1 IP in his past two outings. That includes four earned (six earned) and nine hits with four walks in 3.2 IP in a no-decision Sunday in a 12-8 loss at Great American Ball Park.

The Brewers get a chance to tee off on Reds RHP Brady Singer (6-13, 5.03 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) for his 29th start of the season. Singer is 1-3 with a 6.00 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in his past seven starts, and he is a dismal 2-7 with a 5.67 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 13 road starts over 66.2 IP.

Singer was socked around for six runs, four hits and six walks in five innings in Sunday's start against Harrison and the Brewers, but with plenty of offensive support, he actually received the unearned victory, his first victory since July 22.

Let's roll with the Brewers on the run line, as they look to add to the woes for Singer and the Reds, and we'll go Over on the total.

MLB Best Bets for Reds at Brewers:

  • Under 8.5 Runs (-115 at BetRivers Sportsbook)

Seattle Mariners at Athletics: Saturday Night Baseball Insights

The Mariners (69-79) and the Athletics (60-88) meet in the second game at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento.

Seattle went to the ALCS last season, and it was within a whisker of a trip to the World Series. This season, while not quite eliminated, it's six games out of the final wild-card spot with just 14 games to play. Meanwhile, the A's are already eliminated.

While they can't make the playoffs, the A's are done fighting. They picked up a 6-5 win as home underdogs (+138) on Friday as the Over (10.5) cashed. Lawrence Butler went 3 for 4 with a double and home run with two RBI, while Donovan Walton ended up 3 for 5 with a homer and two RBI. Seattle's Lazaro Montes has the big blow, hitting a homer while finishing with two RBI after coming on as a pinch hitter.

Seattle is just 5-5 in the past 10 games, which isn't bad, but it isn't good enough. The Mariners simply have to be perfect the rest of the way out, and even that might not get it done.

RHP Bryan Woo (11-9, 4.03 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) has been a disaster on the road, going 3-8 with a 5.63 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 12 homers allowed in 80 IP in 15 starts, but he has been slightly better lately.

The A's turn to rookie LHP Gage Jump (6-10, 5.12 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) for his 20th start. He is just 2-4 with a 7.22 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in his past seven outings.

As such, let's go high on the total as our best play in this Seattle-A's game. We'll also side with Woo, as he has struggled badly on the road, but lately, he is 4-2 with a 3.07 ERA and 0.83 WHIP, and he has really started to piece things together.

MLB Best Bets for Mariners at Athletics:

  • Mariners ML (-170 at Bet365 Sportsbook)
  • Over 9.5 Runs (-110 at Bet365, BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings, Fanatics and FanDuel Sportsbooks)
