Double-A San Antonio was not kind to Valdez as he hit just .225/.273/.364 with 12 homers and 13 stolen bases there in 2012. Moreover, he struck out nearly a quarter of the time and took a walk in just four percent of his plate appearances. Add this all up and Valdez has serious work to do in 2013, if he wants to get back on the fast track (or any track for that matter) to the majors. A return to Double-A seems like a reasonable starting point this time around.
