Rest-of-Season Projections
Cordova announced his retirement from baseball on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Cordova missed the entire 2004 season after another procedure on his elbow in May but signed a minor league contract with the Devil Rays last month. But he never appeared in a Tampa Bay uniform, retiring before ever reporting to spring training. "He's been bothered by injuries over the last several seasons, and it has gotten to the point where he felt the best decision was to retire," Devil Rays general manager Chuck LaMar said.
