The Red Sox released Cordier from his minor-league contract last week, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
ANALYSIS
The 31-year-old appeared in six games for Pawtucket and logged a 5.40 ERA and 15:9 K:BB over 8.1 innings before receiving his walking papers. Cordier, who last appeared in the majors in 2015 with the Marlins, will look to latch on elsewhere as organizational filler.

You have to figure the save opportunities will still be there for Glen Perkins, since even the lowliest of MLB teams manage to have a bullpen guy, or two combined, maybe even three combined, that can net 30 saves.
2015 Fantasy Outlook
A second-round pick of the Royals in 2004, Cordier finally debuted in the big leagues ten years later with the Giants as a September callup. With a live arm that enables him to top triple digits with his fastball, Cordier has battled control issues throughout his career, which has ultimately led to his longer than expected trek through the minor leagues. The control woes are also attributed to significant development time lost to a knee injury early in his professional career, and Tommy John surgery that erased his entire 2007. He's far from a lock to see more than a late-season taste of San Francisco again, especially after he carried a 5.3 BB/9 over 52.2 innings at Triple-A Fresno last season. Cordier hasn't been pitching in relief long, which offers a glimmer of upside if the Giants (or some other club) find a way to help him develop more consistency with his mechanics.
