ANALYSIS
De Paula pitched 3.1 innings during Sunday's blowout loss to the Tigers, where he gave up a home run and walked four during his time on the mound. Fortunately for him, he wasn't the only Yankee to pitch poorly Sunday as Masahiro Tanaka and Danny Burawa combined to give up four home runs of their own, although both De Paula's and Burawa's outings were dismal enough to warrant an option back to Triple-A.

2013 Fantasy Outlook
The 2012 season was a lost one for De Paula as he was unable to pitch in the states due to visa issues. Instead, he stayed in the Dominican Republic, where he pitched in the Winter League. The last time we saw De Paula in the states, he pitched 112 innings in High-A Lake Elsinore, where he struggled to miss bats. At 23 years old, he'll need to improve his command, if he wants to start progressing up the ladder in the Padres' organization, especially given his age and lack of work at advanced levels of the minor leagues as a result of his lost season.
