Konrad Schmidt

Schmidt was acquired off of waivers by the Rangers in November when the D-Backs needed to open up a spot on their 40-man roster. He's spent the last two seasons working mostly as the starter at Triple-A Reno, carrying a .751 OPS in 2012 and showing moderate pop and acceptable on-base skills in the process. As a big league player, Schmidt appears to be a backup catcher at best, and it's more likely that he'll return to Triple-A for most of 2013 than break through for a full season in the majors.
