Shawn O'Malley

O'Malley had stolen at least 13 bases in every minor league season since 2010 before 2016, when he earned his first significant playing time in the majors. At the plate, he did little to build on the uninspiring stick work from his farm days. The bright side: He played six positions in the field, which kept him in the lineup even when he underwhelmed with the lumber. In many fantasy leagues, he may own additional eligibility at second base, which could pay off in American League formats, if he gets enough reps. He'll probably be part of a wild spring-training scramble for outfield playing time. Whether the 29-year-old will actually help will rely mostly on his speed, so don't expect much else across the board if he does net a role. Seattle may want to keep him as a utility plug-in, which would prevent him from consistent playing time.
