ANALYSIS
Kieschnick began his career as a power hitting outfielder with the Cubs, but he never panned out and switched to pitching. He had mixed results coming out of the bullpen for the Brewers the last two seasons before deciding to hang up the cleats this year.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2005
2004
2003
Kieschnick made the Brewers primarily as a pitcher in 2004 and had a very good season in middle relief. He also hit .270 with a home run and seven RBI in his duel pinch-hitter role (a decline from 2003). He struggled a little late in the season after shoulder injury, but was still able to post a 3.77 ERA in 43 IP. He'll have to pitch well again this spring in order to make the club.
Although Kieschnick was a good story in 2003, he really wasn't a very good pitcher. His one good attribute was that he ate up a lot of garbage innings, but also had a 5.26 ERA. He did a better job as a pinch-hitter and reserve outfielder, hitting .327 with five homers in 55 AB. The fact that he can be a pinch-hitter late in games and do mop-up duty actually makes him a valuable player, but not much of a fantasy player.
