Even if he finds a job this spring, you don't want a 43-year-old lefty specialist on your team.
Fassero will be 42 this spring, but he's a lefty and still has a pulse, so he'll get an invite somewhere. It'll be for a situational bullpen role, however, so he won't have much roto impact.
Fassero averaged less than an inning per relief appearance. He doesn't get lefties out, so using him as a specialist is a bit like using Comet to brush your teeth. Maybe it works, and maybe you end up as a Darwin Award nominee. Don't draft him, and laugh at anyone who does, especially now that he's in Colorado.
Fassero signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals this December, making him the second lefty option at best behind Steve Kline. He pitched decently in 18 IP for the Cards down the stretch last year, but he was shelled -- 65 hits and 22 walks, 6.18 ERA in 51 IP -- in Chicago. Unless you're in a players 40-and-over league, we don't see any reason to own Fassero this season.
