Past Fantasy Outlooks

Simon is a hacker with modest power, who puts up cosmetically decent numbers thanks to a high batting average and the extra RBI that come from rarely taking a walk, but he doesn't get on base or slug nearly enough to be considered a productive hitter at the first-base position. At press time, it remains to be seen whether the Cubs will re-sign the arbitration-eligible Simon now that they have Derrek Lee in the fold, and if they do, Simon will merely be a left-handed bat off the bench.
Nearly impossible to walk and strike out, Simon generally is a good hitter for average but his relative lack of power will hurt you at a power position, albeit not as much in the NL as he would have in the AL.
