Ledee missed much of the year with a groin strain, and even when healthy, he didn't do much at the plate. He saw 53 of his 85 at-bats as a pinch-hitter, a role he will need to fill again in 2007 to have any shot at sticking in the majors.
Ledee's chronic hamstring troubles, the result of scar tissue forming from a previous surgery, never waned in 2005, limiting his ability to fill in when the Dodgers had so many other outfielder injuries. When healthy, he made for a nice platoon partner with Jayson Werth. When Werth and J.D. Drew are fully healthy, he'll be relegated to a pinch-hitting role.
Ledee struggled with a .113 batting average for the Giants when he was acquired in a trade from Philadelphia for reliever Felix Rodriguez. He found playing time rare with an already crowded outfield and has yet to prove himself worthy of a full-time outfield spot. He'll fare better in Los Angeles if he gets regular playing time but will work initially in a reserve role.
Ledee had the best power numbers of his journeyman career with 13 home runs, a .475 slugging percentage, and 46 RBI. Ledee took advantage of Pat Burrell's poor season and Marlon Byrd's injury to get the most at bats in his career. Ledee might get the same opportunity in 2004 if Burrell continues his downward spiral.
Ledee found some success in 2002 hitting leadoff (.382 OBP, 25 BB in 118 AB), but projects to be a backup fighting for the fifth outfielder spot.
