2003
Giambi is a minor league free agent. He missed most of 2004 with a herniated disk in his back and will be looking to catch on as a fourth or fifth outfielder somewhere.
Giambi will try to find at bats off the bench in Los Angeles. However, he's probably best suited for the American League where his defense can be hidden at DH. Last year in Boston, he got off to a slow start, then got hurt, and never recovered.
Giambi hit 20 homers (12 in Philly) between Oakland and Philadelphia last year. The trade to Boston considerably helps Giambi, where he can be used at 1B or at DH. He's an on-base machine that could score a ton of runs in Boston's potent lineup.
