Munro found himself in the Astros starting rotation after season-ending injuries to both Andy Pettitte and Wade Miller left two vacancies. Munro found very litle success, posting a 5.15 ERA and .302 BAA. With Pettitte and Miller both expected to be healthy by spring training, Munro will likely serve his duties in the weak Astros bullpen.
The solid K:BB ratio that helped get Munro to the majors disappeared in 2003, and the road back will be rocky.
Munro pitched well enough in 2002 to probably shed the "career minor leaguer" label, but otherwise his career path likely tracks to be on the fringe of the starting rotation, while seeing much of his duty as a long reliever. His lack of dominance (45 strikeouts in 80 2/3 innings) might catch up to him eventually.
