After undergoing reconstructive elbow surgery in August of 2002, Chiasson missed the entire 2003 season. He was non-tendered by the Cubs this fall, so he's a free-agent heading into the winter.

The Class AAA Iowa Cubs closer last spring, Chiasson had to have reconstructive elbow surgery in August and probably won't be back for 2003. If his rehab goes well, he could challenge for a spot in the Cubs' pen in 2004.
