Rest-of-Season Projections
Johnny Estrada: Released by Nats
The Nationals designated Estrada for assignment on Thursday and promptly released him, the Washington Times reports.
ANALYSIS
He'll likely enjoy the rest of the season shuttling between his recliner at home and the local Golden Corral, while resting up his surgically-repaired elbow before making a push for a job elsewhere next spring. Injuries limited him to just 12 games with Washington this season, but Estrada pocketed a cool $1.25 million for his troubles.

The Brewers brought in Estrada before the 2007 season in hopes that he could provide an offensive upgrade at catcher for them. Unfortunately, not only was he not an upgrade on offense, but he was a big downgrade on defense. Estrada blames most of his problems on a number of injuries. He had some disagreements with pitching coach Mike Maddux and that prompted the Brewers to trade him to the Mets in the offseason where he was later released. It's still not clear if Estrada will earn a starting role in 2008.
