A non-roster invitee to spring training, Corcoran finished the year as a reliable reliever in the Seattle bullpen. He lives by the groundball, notching a 3.42 G/F, fourth-best in baseball among relievers (min. 60 IP). His K:BB was an ugly 39:36, but the groundball rate keeps him on the mound, as he induced 11 double plays last season. With Sean Green dealt to the Mets in the J.J. Putz trade, Corcoran will get a shot at the late-inning righty role along with new teammate Aaron Heilman. He could see a nice uptick in holds from the eight he had last season.

Corcoran's control wavered last year, and as a result he got no real shot at a bullpen job the Expos would probably have loved to have given him. He's still young, and will show up on someone's middle relief radar.

Corcoran worked himself into the Expos' bullpen picture in 2003, posting a 1.23 ERA over 58 2/3 innings between three minor league teams -- and posting an identical number in a brief trial with the big club. Look for him to break camp with Montreal in middle relief.
