$Agreed to a minor league contract with the Tigers in March of 2014.
PMinnesota Twins
December 21, 2014
Ledezma signed a minor league contract with Minnesota, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Ledezma hasn't pitched in the majors since 2011 as he's had stints in Japan and Mexico since then. He had a 2.89 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 18.2 innings Aragua in Venezuelan league, so the Twins must have seen something they liked. Still, he'll likely just add depth at Triple-A.

The Pirates thought they might have a late-blooming left-handed reliever when they recalled Ledezma from Triple-A in 2010. After all, Ledezma ran off eight saves with Indianapolis and posted a 0.94 ERA with the Bucs' top farm club. The 30-year-old journeyman showed even greater promise upon his recall, dropping a mid-90s fastball in a scoreless first outing. Reality struck soon thereafter, however, and the southpaw finished his stint in Pittsburgh with a 6.86 ERA and 1.576 WHIP in 27 outings. He remains an enigma with good enough stuff to excel at the major league level. Time is running out on him, however, there's no guarantee he ever figures things out. Ledezma will compete for a spot in the front end of Pittsburgh's bullpen.
.
Ledezma has an outside shot to win a back-end rotation spot with the Padres this spring. More likely, he will serve as a long reliever or Triple-A starter. Ledezma is a 26-year-old tweener that struggles with his control (194:138 K:BB ratio in 306.2 career major league innings). If that's not enough to scare you away, consider his 5.28 career major league ERA.
Ledezma bounced back last season after a tough 2005 in which he was injured and ineffective. He started 2006 at Triple-A but a strong performance there earned him a bullpen spot with the Tigers in June. He was shifted to the rotation towards the end of the season and performed well. The Tigers won't have a starting spot for Ledezma coming out of spring training unless they trade away a more established starter. If injuries or a trade opens a spot in the Detroit rotation, Ledezma figures to step in. He doesn't have overpowering stuff so his fantasy value will be limited no matter what his role.
Ledezma entered last season as Detroit's fifth starter but inconsistency and control issues forced him back to Triple-A. Things didn't get much better there. He continued to struggle with his control and suffered a minor elbow injury. A return to Triple-A to start 2006 is likely but a strong performance there could propel him back to the majors.
When Gary Knotts went on the DL in late July, Ledezma took over his spot as Detroit's No. 5 starter and never looked back. He burned out a little bit at the end of the season, but still managed to put together a winning record and pitched better than his 4.39 ERA might indicate. Though he'll have to battle for a job in the starting rotation in spring training, he's the leading candidate for the last spot. He's worth taking a flyer on in the late rounds of deeper league drafts.
Ledezma pitched fairly well up until the All-Star break and then got hit pretty hard in the second half. He's going to be 23 years old this season, so it's possible he could turn into an effective reliever. Ledezma was one of three Rule 5 picks to spend all year with the Tigers in 2003; the team at least will now have the option of sending him down to Triple-A for seasoning this year.
