Roibal was a rising star in Cuba and almost made Cuba's 2009 World Baseball Classic team before defecting later that year. He signed with the Giants last spring and had an impressive debut in rookie ball with a 2.08 ERA and 14:5 K:BB ratio in 8.2 innings. Unlike other recent Cuban defectors, he's young at age 22. Some called him one of the top three pitchers in Cuba at the time he left, so he's an intriguing prospect to track.
