RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Jake Cosart.
Cosart showed good form in the 2014 Fall Instructionals, but that didn't carry over in 2015 at Short-Season Lowell, for whom he had a 5.45 ERA and walked 20 in 33 innings. He had a 93-95 mph fastball with sink and two offspeed pitches that were plus offerings, but in an effort to include more lower body in his delivery, Cosart's mechanics became inconsistent and he lost the ability to control the ball. His velocity fell to 91-94 and now the mechanics need work. He'll have to prove in spring training that he's ready for full-season Low-A Greenville, but he'll probably start in extended spring training where he'll need to work on his mechanics.
