RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Tyler Krieger.
A fourth-round pick in the 2015 draft, Krieger tormented opposing pitching at Low-A to begin the 2016 campaign. The 22-year-old switch-hitter slashed .313/.385/.427 with three home runs, 35 RBI and 15 steals in 69 games before being promoted. The Clemson product played the final 59 games of the year at High-A Lynchburg, and while not quite as dynamic as his start, Krieger more than held his own at that level. He batted .282/.369/.405, showing that his best asset will be his plate discipline and ability to hit for average. Still, Krieger will also be a threat to swipe 20 bases in a season. He will likely spend most of the year at Double-A, and while he has been an above league-average hitter at every stop as a pro, he will really need to keep hitting as moves up the ladder. His lack of pop and the fact that he is a second base-only prospect mean that he will need to really hit for average and get on base to profile at the keystone.
