The Brewers recalled Miller from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
With Christian Yelich (back) headed for the IL, Miller will come up from the minors to give the Brewers an additional bench piece that is capable fielding numerous positions. The 27-year-old has gotten off to a strong start at Triple-A, slashing .353/.414/.451 through 58 plate appearances, though his stint in Milwaukee will likely come to an end once Yelich comes off the injured list.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
More time at first likely
2BMilwaukee Brewers
July 5, 2023
Miller, who is starting at first base Wednesday against the Cubs, is likely to see regular starts at the position until Rowdy Tellez can return from his forearm injury.
ANALYSIS
Miller has seven starts at first base this season but could now be the Brewers' primary option with Tellez on the injured list. Miller has enjoyed a rebound campaign after being acquired by Milwaukee during the offseason and has a .285/.327/.404 slash line with 15 doubles, four homers, 10 steals, 23 RBI and 27 runs in 69 games. Whether he's playing at first base or elsewhere, the 26-year-old has carved out a regular spot in the lineup.

2021
Miller was able to carve out a part-time role in 2022, filling in at first base, second base and designated hitter. He produced reverse splits, as the righty hitter logged a .258/.306/.362 slash line against right-handed pitchers compared to a .212/.290/.328 line against southpaws. Miller contributed 51 RBI and 53 runs scored, but hit only six home runs and added two stolen bases. He's mainly a contact hitter, as evidenced by his solid 19.7 percent strikeout rate last season. The Brewers acquired him from Cleveland this offseason in exchange for cash or a player to be named later. Miller has an excellent track record of hitting in the minors, so the Brewers will see if he can take a big step forward against MLB pitching in his age-26 season. He will be competing with Luis Urias and Brice Turang for playing time.
There's no immediate path to playing time for Miller in 2022, but that shouldn't be too much of a concern. He's a versatile player who is most likely to see time in the infield -- challenging Andres Gimenez at second base or Bobby Bradley at first base -- but he could also move to the outfield if Oscar Mercado doesn't hit well enough to maintain a starting job in right field. Miller didn't do much in 60 games in 2021 for his first taste of big-league action, slashing .204/.243/309 with a 26.7 percent strikeout rate. He's shown promise in the minors as a contact hitter, and the defensive versatility is a plus if he can do enough with the bat to warrant more playing time.
Miller was one of six Padres shipped to Cleveland in the Mike Clevinger trade last August. The infielder wasn't the most hyped of San Diego's prospects who swapped jerseys but is viewed as a solid piece with legitimate big-league potential. After batting .336 in his first season of pro ball, Miller spent most of 2019 with Double-A Amarillo, for whom he slashed .290/.355/.430 over 560 plate appearances. He doesn't wow with power but slugged 13 long balls for the Sod Poodles and has enough pop to hit double-digit homers in the big leagues. In addition, Miller has posted a mid-80s contact rate as a minor-leaguer while striking out less than 15% of the time. Had Cleveland not received two shortstops back in the Francisco Lindor trade, Miller could have threatened for an Opening Day roster spot. He's likely to begin 2021 at Triple-A instead but should make his big-league debut at some point in the campaign.
