Corey has served as one of Boston's veterans who are on call at Triple-A Pawtucket in case of emergency. He walks more batters than we'd like, but has been fairly effective at getting lefties out and can be a team's 11th pitcher. The Red Sox will be looking for some late-inning relief help, but will probably address that need via free agency instead of trusting a journeyman like Corey.

Corey pitched well for Texas and Boston last season, but two bad September outings skewed his ERA. His walks were a tad high, but he allowed only one homer. The Red Sox bullpen will have a couple of openings and Corey will be right there in the mix for a position when April rolls around, though not as a closer.

29 years old with average stuff. Doesn't make for a long major league career.
