Past Fantasy Outlooks

2003
The former Yankee first-rounder in 1994, and one of the components in the 1998 Chuck Knoblauch trade, the 230-plus pounder has never become a regular because he's defensibly-challenged with a marginal eye at the plate. Not projectable for more than 200 at-bats, he's a powerful pinch-hitter/reserve outfielder/first baseman that will likely remain so for the duration of his career.
Buchanan’s bat makes him an intriguing option in the OF. His defense however, is what keeps him from becoming an everyday player. He would make an ideal platoon DH if he played in the AL. Buck will have every opportunity to prove the naysayers wrong, but he’s probably only a few defensive miscues away from being traded back to the AL.
