Past Fantasy Outlooks
2004
2003
Stark had a fine season in 2002, winning 11 games and posting a 4.00 ERA, but that was two years ago. '03 was marred loss of command and confidence, injury and some pretty ugly stats. Stark turns 30 this season, so the Rockies' patience is wearing a little thin. He came over from Seattle in the trade for Jeff Cirillo, so they won't be out anything in the event that their patience wears completely out and Stark gets shipped elsewhere. Incidentally, this is the best thing that could happen to Stark at this point.
While on the surface it looks like you might have a great keeper/sleeper on your hands, he's probably not a good bet to repeat. Besides pitching half his games in baseball's version of Russian Roulette, Stark has a lousy K/BB ratio and HR-allowed rate (25 HR allowed).
