ANALYSIS
Reith began the 2004 season on the Reds' major league roster, working out of the bullpen, but was hit pretty hard before being designated for assignment in June.

Probably the first candidate to be designated off the 40-man roster, Reith's poor control limits his potential upside.

Reith's career development was rudely interrupted when the Reds called him up from Double-A in 2001, clearly well before he was ready. Predictably, Reith was shelled, then he was shuttled back to Triple-A, demoted to Double-A and he has fizzled out ever since. Reith is one of two players remaining from the Denny Neagle trade (Wily Mo Pena being the other), and thus remains on the Reds' 40-man roster. He could be designated off the 40-man roster by spring training.
