Ruan played well in Las Vegas in 2003, hitting .308 and stealing 41 bases in 48 attempts. He has zero power and even less plate discipline (he's still looking for his first major league walk, after 52 career at-bats with the Dodgers), but could be useful as a pinch-runner and defensive outfielder off the bench.

Cut from the same cloth as Dave Roberts but with less plate discipline. Acquired from the Expos in the Matt Herges trade. Still young at 24, may platoon with Roberts or strictly be limited to pinch hitting and running. Don't expect a breakout season just yet.
