Past Fantasy Outlooks
2004
2003
Berger is a minor-league slugger who hasn't been able to hit enough to earn an extended look. He puts up nice power and contact numbers in the minors but doesn't have enough defense to be a fifth outfielder. He could catch a break or hot streak, but any major-league future must be in doubt.
Berger had a hot week in the majors in 2002 and then looked lost for the next month before heading back to the minors. He hit 40 home runs in Wichita in 2001 and doesn't strike out like many young power hitters. Baring more injuries, Berger may not be able to make enough contact to earn a starting role in Kansas City.
