Signs for $7 million Saturday

Rodriguez signed with the Reds for $7 million on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The Reds were reported to have signed Rodriguez back in January, but the team never confirmed, and now he will be technically part of this July 2 signing class, getting an extra $1 million more than he was believed to have signed for earlier this year. As a 22-year-old Cuban shortstop, Rodriguez should start at a full-season league, whereas most of the other players from this international class are 16 or 17 years old and won't make it to a full-season league until at least 2017. His hit tool and power are suspect, but he has plus speed and the glove should stick at short. Rodriguez shouldn't be treated like a big prize in dynasty leagues, but he could be a useful contributor in time.

2016 Fantasy Outlook
Rodriguez won the rookie of the year award in Serie Nacional before leaving the island to pursue a MLB career at age 21. Rodriguez is seen as an outstanding defensive player, but has a long way to go as a hitter. He doesn't have much power but does have speed. He'll likely begin his MLB career in the low minors.
