2017 Fantasy Outlook
Scott is an interesting story. With the Red Sox getting inconsistent work out of the bullpen, the 27-year-old left-hander reached the majors for the first time in a career that included a stop at Yuma in the independent North American Baseball League, where Jose Canseco was his manager. After a pretty dominant year at Triple-A Pawtucket -- Scott held left-handers to a .147 average and posted a 2.54 ERA in 32 appearances, including six spot starts -- he was summoned to Boston for the September call-up. He didn't allow a run in six innings over seven appearances and earned some high-leverage work. Given his pedestrian stuff -- a mid-to-high 80s fastball with average curve and changeup -- don't expect him to sustain that type of success over the course of a full MLB season, but he showed enough to earn a spot as a third bullpen lefty.
