The 25-year-old won the Triple Crown in the Australian League, hitting .363 with 15 homers and 50 RBI. The former fourth-round pick struggled with the Phillies in the low minors in 2009 and 2010 before playing in the Golden Baseball League (independent) in 2011. Perhaps he'll hang around with the Padres as organizational depth, but Buschini seems to be a long shot for a significant number of at-bats given his previous struggles as a professional.
